ABOUT ME
Mara grew up in a small town in northeast Tennessee, and Henry grew up in a small community in middle Tennessee. We met in college at Tennessee Tech. We're both somewhat quiet and left-brained, but we enjoy the company of those more energetic and artistically inclined than us. We have lived in the United States for our whole lives, excluding an 8 month study abroad experience that we did together in Chambéry, France. While in Europe, in addition to visiting quite a few places in France, we traveled a good bit in Italy and a tad in Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom. We've visited most regions of the continental United States, albeit some fairly briefly.
PHILOSOPHY
We don't consider ourselves philosophers, but the Golden Rule has always seemed like pretty reasonable advice.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have surfed a bit during our travels, and more recently we've hosted a few people at our home in Longview.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've had nothing but positive experiences so far. Folks we've met through couchsurfing have introduced us to (among other things) New Mexican food, different species of cacti, Playing for Change, and a taste of Ukrainian culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The experience of studying abroad in France was definitely worthwhile.
Teach, Learn, Share
Mara: I know quite a bit about soccer, and I'm pretty good at math.
Henry: I know a decent amount about the geography, geology, and history of Middle and East Tennessee. I'm also pretty good at basic chemistry and calculus.
Both: We enjoy learning about other parts of the world and other cultures. We also enjoy dabbling in foreign languages, especially French and Spanish.
