ABOUT ME

By the time I graduated university in 2012 it was already fully apparent to me that I knew a fair bit about what a lot of places were like a long time ago. With the aim of living in the present for a change, my friend Jake and I booked tickets to South East Asia, with a mind to swap damp, frenetic England for a more leisurely, warmer pace of life. (Our starting place - Hanoi, Vietnam - was neither of these things, but nevermind.)

So far, wholesome activities and relaxation have generally been the order of the day, one or two parties excluded, and I feel all the better for it. Being generally inclined towards outdoor pursuits, I'm incredibly excited to be heading over to Singapore and then Australia on my own shortly, where I'm hoping to see some of the stunning scenery and wildlife that I hear is unique to the place. When I get the chance, my general interests include writing and playing guitar music, trying to read overly complicated books, and eating everything and anything set before me (a highlight so far includes live eel soup in Vietnam). With the knowledge that I have a full time job to start in September I'm all about experiencing the more unusual things in life and seeing some incredible places while I have the health and time to do so.

PHILOSOPHY

The only thing that's left to do is live. And also kindness > ego. to be honest I try to live by the sentiment expressed in Frank Turner's incredible second album, Love, Ire and Song.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently looking for a place to stay in Sydney or really anywhere on the East coast of Australia that will offer a bit of insight into the best of the country. While expense is an issue when coming to Aus from the UK, my main reason for trying to start up couchsurfing is that I've heard so many times how it leads to new friendships and a great variety of experiences. Having travelled in South East Asia with a friend I'm now keen to forge my own path and get to know Australia and Australians in the best way possible. Just gotta hope someone will give me a try!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Can teach English History! Particularly anything concerning the development of religion, the Tudor period, or the Second World War. I know a thing or two about early modern Europe too - or at least I did a few months ago. Hope I haven't forgotten! Other than that I'm pretty curious by nature and can generally chat on most topics, current or otherwise. I'm completely useless with stuff of a mathematical nature, but that's about it.
