Overview
About Me
Born/raised in NYC, living in Los Angeles. Though I've mostly spent my life in coastal cities, I went to college in Minnesota, and have some roots there.
I'm a writer. I've spent the last three years writing and directing avant-garde theater in LA, but I'm now focusing on writing for television. If you'd like to see some of my theater work, it's available on henrymoskowitz.com.
I'd say I'm an ambivert. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing others' stories and life experiences; I'm also comfortable being quiet and alone (thinking, writing, reading, watching tv/films, etc).
When I am out and about, I enjoy live music, comedy, museums/galleries, finding places off the beaten path, seeing the most bizarre performance art I can find, and making friends.
I maintain a somewhat disciplined meditation pracgice, and generally live a healthy lifestyle.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm taking a road trip back east from LA. I'm looking for opportunities to meet new people and get a more authentic view of the US during my travels -- it's easy to get siloed in the coastal bubble (where I've spent the majority of my life).
I've couch surfed before when traveling through Germany (under a friend's account) and it was a great experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
A few movies: A Serious Man, The Piano Teacher, Nashville, 8 1/2, Spinal Tap, Blazing Saddles, The Master, The Unknown Known, The Third Man.
I listen to a lot of music, but the artists I frequently return to: Steely Dan, Randy Newman, Neil Young, Eric Dolphy, Prince, Bill Frisell, Joni Mitchell, Marc Ribot, Tom Waits, The B-52s.
Television: Mad Men, Sopranos, Twin Peaks, Curb Your Enthusiasm.
In terms of books, I've recently enjoyed Thomas Pynchon's "Inherent Vice" (the book and the movie), but I couldn't make it through "Gravity's Rainbow". I like non-fiction -- currently reading Miles Davis's autobiography. bell hooks's ideas are profound.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My parents took me to Woodstock '94 when I was five.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've worked as a post-production professional on films/tv in LA for 3+ years. If you need help editing video, or have technical questions, I'd be happy to assist. I'm also kind of a nerd, so I can help with computer-y things in general.
Also, if there's a story you've always been wanting to write, I am a great sounding board for ideas.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can take you out to dinner, or, if you drink, a drink.
I like to cook simple nutritious meals. I'll probably offer to cook for you.
I'd also be happy to clean around the house, help with chores, etc.
Also, let me know if there's something from LA that you'd be interested in me bringing.
