About Me

Hey, there! My name is Henry, and I just graduated undergraduate school with a degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy in May 2018. I am currently staying in Austin, TX and am taking some space to consider who I want to be in the absence of school and presence of my new degree, before going to do some seasonal work on an island in New Hampshire.

I am considering getting a teaching assistantship in a graduate school in pursuit of becoming a professor, and am also dreaming of a culinary career. I also am looking for ways to become radically involved in the communities I am living in, in order to help individuals of those communities honor their personal truths. I really like playing guitar, and I write songs usually about things that I am angry with the world about that I want to figure out how to make better.

Five things that I just can't live without? One, self-care and self-love. Two, my backpack. Three, loving and supportive relationships. Four, recorded music and instruments to play. Five, definitely critical thinking, movements and revolutions towards more whole, loving, abundant communities. A couple of other things I just could not live without are all kinds of berries, kombucha, conversation, and some good books.

I travel very light, and consider myself a minimalist. If you are generous and kind and decide to host me, I will probably show up with the following things: my 25L backpack, my sleeping bag, and/or my guitar. Recently I have been traveling with the luxury of a duffel bag, too!

I enjoy authentically socializing, meaning that I usually skip the small talk when I can. I am very shy at first, but I open up quickly! In addition to being social, I also enjoy some decent alone time, especially when traveling, so that I can center myself and stay strong!

To hosts, I hope that I can offer stimulating conversation, assistance with cleaning, organization, or general tidying of living spaces, computer and technical help if needed, a clean room and space after I've left, and some good laughs! I can also cook some great food! Just let me know what you need. I would love to share my knowledge of vegan and gluten-free food preparation with you.

My motto? Honor your truth! Honor our truth(s)!

Thanks for reading my profile! I really hope that we can connect in person!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I have done is committing to a zero waste life style, ideally meaning that I do not produce any landfill trash, but realistically meaning that I produce very little landfill trash. This commitment has helped my health, my finances, and the potential of our planet.
