To be honest, happy and healthy. Forever.
ABOUT ME
I have been into CouchSurfing for a while, and hosted travelers in my place in Iowa City, then on my little houseboat in Sausalito, then when I lived in Taiwan, then in Corvallis, Oregon. I'm heading out to travel for a few months around Asia, and I'm not sure where I'm headed after that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years back I saw a squirrel and a robin locked in mortal combat. This occurred outside of a family pizza shack in Door County, Wisconsin, whilst on a camping trip with my parents. We had a booth by the window, and the action was taking place in a bush located about 15 feet away. What precipitated the encounter will always remain a mystery, but it must have been something really, really important. (Was it dishes-related?) The animals fought pretty hard for about a minute, rolling around on the ground and clawing at each other. The robin seemed to be holding her own against the squirrel as they rolled underneath a shrubby yew. For about thirty seconds we saw nothing. Then the robin limped out, alone. She stood there, in front of us, seeming a bit dazed. . Then--with the quickness of a squirrel--the squirrel pounced out from under the yew onto the robin's back and dragged her into the bushes.
Then it was quiet.
We went out to get a closer look, and saw the robin dead on the ground.
A note on the above story: I really like animals, and I include this because it is so very rare to see two such friendly creatures so angry at each other.
