About Me
****READ THIS*****
I want to be clear that I do not live in downtown Sapporo. I live on the outskirts of the city and it takes a short bus ride from my place to even get to the end of the subway line. If you're looking for a quiet place off the beaten path then you may like it here. It's also not a bad stop if you're on your way to Jozankei or maybe Lake Shikotsu. However if you are looking for convenience and accessibility, this may not be the best fit.
Also, I prefer to host women but if you are a guy with some references I will give them a look :) Short stays are best for me since I'm busy with some changes going on right now and if you have no references at all I will only be able to host you for a night. Thanks and happy travels :)

CURRENT MISSION
Surviving in this strange new world I'm in.
ABOUT ME
I like to think I've had some rather eclectic experiences in my life. Travel has been a big part of my life since the beginning and has become something of a goal of mine. I've been a huge fan of Japanese media since a young age. Online I'm fairly active in online fan communities and my masters thesis is centered on them. I have studied a number of different things in school, such as humanities and the Spanish language. I finally received my bachelors in Mathematics and continued on to grad school for Education. Once I finish that degree I still have dreams of enrolling in a program for Egyptology that I hope to realize in time, on top of everything else.
PHILOSOPHY
The most important thing you can do is expose yourself to new ideas and beliefs. Experience something new every day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I like to travel. Work makes it hard to do that too much now but inviting new people into my own is like a way of bringing the wider world into that home.
Interests
In addition to some of the things I've already mentioned, fandom, travel, languages etc. I am also an avid hockey fan. I listen to a lot of different music and I have yet to find a genre I really dislike. I am the person that has to look at every artifact in a museum before I am satisfied and sometimes I think I could live in one. Finally I really enjoy a good debate because I think challenging ones self to confront different ideas is one of the best ways to learn.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nothing else will compare to being in Egypt in January, 2011 during the beginning of the Arab Spring. I learned more in two weeks than I would have in an entire semester there and I have a hard time believing anything else will ever measure up to that experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a pretty big home and lots of different kinds of food from all over the world. I won't claim it's authentic but I like to think it is a change of pace especially if you've been living in Japan for a while.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Egypt, Italy, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Slovenia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey
