I am a down-to-earth and friendly person who loves to travel. I'm am currently a a teacher at a public elementary school in Delaware. I received my master's from the University of Pennsylvania in educational linguistics (second language pedagogy), and my bachelor's from Bloomsburg University in linguistics and Chinese language and culture. I'm vegan and LGBT+ friendly.
CURRENT MISSION
To travel the world, experience different cultures, and learn different languages.
PHILOSOPHY
Always in pursuit of knowledge; I live with an open heart and open mind.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf and host! I believe it is important to build connections and community wherever you are. Connecting with people globally changes people's lives, and teaches them new things about the world. We should all get to know the world we live in.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Every Couchsurfing experience so far has been very positive! I want to meet new people and see new places, and this is a great place to start.
Interests
I am intellectually curious, but also interpersonally-curious. I like to get to know people on a deeper level to get to know who they really are. I like to go to the gym, play music, cook, and research nutrition! I am an avid language-lover, though, I could be a better learner, haha.

Music, Movies, and Books
Pop-EDM
I read mostly non-fiction and textbooks, but I open a novel from time to time.
Haven't watched "television" in years, but I do watch YouTube and Netflix occasionally.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived in China for a year and taught English to elementary school children. What an interesting roller coaster! Never learned more about myself than in an experience like that! There were difficult times and time of pure happiness. I was able to learn a far bit of Mandarin, which made my experience rewarding! I was also living in Guangzhou, so being close to Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia was a nice perk.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you are interested in learning second language development, linguistics, Mandarin, etc. I'm well-equipped to tackle that. The best gift is perspective and knowledge, so come ready to dive in!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my apartment and enthusiasm!
Countries I’ve Visited
Bahamas, Cambodia, China, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, Puerto Rico, Thailand
