About Me
Hi,
My first encounter with Couchsurfing was Meet Up's during a trip to Thailand in January 2018 and first time to be hosted was during July 2018 in Bulgaria.
I usually plan for solo travels, but enjoy good company along the journey, if schedules can be synchronised. I have an auto-immune condition which is controlled by injections and a VERY strict diet. I generally avoid booze and lay into whatever local food that passes my dietary restrictions. Asado/BBQ/Braai and coffee lover. I prefer to prepare meals myself.
Unfortunately, my current work schedule and setting does not allow me to host, but this should change from March 2019 :D

TRAVELING PREFERENCES
"You are an avid learner of countries and cultures, and you travel to gain a visceral understanding of the diversity that the world offers. Although you are certainly fascinated and awed by the famous and historical landmarks around the world, you crave the authentic experience that often eludes the average tourist.
With an optimistic “go with the flow” attitude, you prefer to let the day’s events and explorations unfold along the way, bravely keeping yourself open to the unexpected. You fully immerse yourself in your traveling experience – you do your best to learn the language and customs, mix in with the local people, eat the traditional cuisine, and even adopt the native lifestyle during your stay.
The key weakness of guidebooks and organized tours is that they provide only an overview – an outsider’s glimpse at history and culture through an intangible barrier. In contrast, you desire, above all, to travel unrestricted and without barriers. You do not just go on trips… you go on expeditions".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe this is an excellent platform to immerse oneself in the local experience.
Beats the impersonal experience of commercial hotels any day.
