ABOUT ME

I'm a writer, actor, astrologer, singer and festival priest and clown who has done theatre and ceremonial arts in New York, Japan, India, Hawaii, Egypt and now Peru. My first book, Dance of the Moon, was published in July 2009. The second, Surfing Aquarius, will be published by Red Wheel Weiser in September, 2011. I'll do another book signing tour in the USA from then to early 2012. PHILOSOPHY

Go for it. Do the thing you fear to do. Sing. Recognize the divine love being in all people. Live according to the universal values of love, peace, kindness, compassion, forgiveness and mercy, and everything else will take care of itself. Shift the focus from what I don't want to what I do want. Laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, I can participate as a guide to the Peruvian beach resort town of Mancora, where I'll stay from Dec. 2010 through Feb. 2011. I'll have a couch available in Pisac, in the Sacred Valley near Cusco, after I return to Peru in April. I also spread the word about CS by writing about it: for example, "Hospitality" at http://www.hermes3.net/may110.htm.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Informally, lots. I have offered hospitality to many friends on their travels, especially when I was in Egypt (2004 - 2009), and I've benefited from the hospitality of others, as I certainly will from family, friends, and I hope CouchSurfing members over the next 6 months. I've greatly enjoyed the hospitality of local Sufis on my tours in my play An Evening with Rumi in Los Angeles and San Francisco as well as Hawaii. I was honored to host Daniel Brower of the Circle of Sound network on his trip to deliver a set of crystal singing bowls in Cairo.

Interests

Movies. Music, mostly classical. Great literature, which I've taught at Columbia and the University of Hawaii. Theatre, especially as performer. Astrology, alchemy and transformational sciences, and the arts of attraction, intention and manifestation. I am interested mainly in linking intentions with others for the sake of bringing about a new world.

The Children of Paradise. Almost anything by Kurosawa, Fellini, Bunuel, Kubrick, Altman, Eisenstein, Chaplin. Mozart, Beethoven, Janacek, Pink Floyd, The Who, the Beatles, Shostakovich, Vivaldi, Telemann. Joyce's Ulysses. Don Quixote. The plays of Shakespeare and the Greek tragedians. The poetry of Rumi. Tom Robbins. Kurt Vonnegut.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have sung ancient Egyptian chants inside the Great Pyramid at Giza. I've played didjeridoo and crystal singing bowls with whales in Hawaii. I'd done classical Japanese comedy in Kyoto and other places in Japan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can contribute something to this, perhaps, as an elder with esoteric and other special skills in astrology, tarot and other forms of divination; as an actor and producer with a long track record of doing plays in several parts of the world, and as an optimist whose work is partly to hold frequency on the planet at a time of widespread change, and fear of change.
