About Me

I grew up in Portland, Oregon but have been living in Madrid for the past 6 years.

I'm a kindergarten teacher but am also currently finishing up my studies in law & criminology. I enjoy learning. I took a web design class for fun! I have also taken cooking classes but have not been so successful at those.

I like meeting people and talking about life experiences, philosophies, and theories; usually over some coffee or wine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Even though I've been a CS member for a few years now, I've only ever couchsurfed a couple of times and they've been positive experiences; experiences that I would love to keep exploring. I think at first I was still quite young and intimidated by the idea but now I find it more enriching.

From my experience CS has allowed me to get a peek at different cultures from a local's point of view, learn new things, share meals, conversations, as well as the opportunity to listen to some awesome stories. As a solo traveller, I have also found it comforting to meet someone in the city you are visiting who you can talk about what you've seen or learned from their city at the end of the day.

I believe in putting good vibes out into the world and paying it forward; and I think couchsurfing really allows you to have a glimpse at the true meaning of generosity. That's why I'm on Couchsurfing.

Interests

I like theatre, live music, and spending time in museums. I can spend hours in bookshops. Especially second-hand/used bookshops; the sort where there are just heaps of books in no specific order just piled on top of each other and you have to sift through them to find hidden treasures.

I can't sing properly but singing obnoxiously in an empty room is a talent I have, haha. I can't dance either but I love watching people dance because it's something I wish I could do! After a couple of drinks, I might just try, lol.

Because I can't seem to get a proper hand on cooking, I have focused all my skills on baking. Baking is unpredictable, baking is messy, baking is where you can follow a recipe to the letter and still end up with crap but I love it anyways. It's a nice distraction when life is being particularly rude!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music is too vast to list! But I am currently listening to The Lumineers' latest album while taking public transport.

My favourites in books are definitely the classics. Next to my nightstand, I currently have a vegan cookbook that I'm exploring.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I can always share stories and good conversation; preferably over some coffee or tea.
I can't really cook properly but I can definitely bake! Banana bread is my speciality and personal favourite.
