Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Herng. So far I've never met anybody else who has the same name. You can guess how to pronounce it.
Born and raised in Taiwan, gone to college in the US and had exchange experience in France. This Eurasiamerican experience taught me that, beyond culture identity, people are all the same. We all have the desire to love and to be loved. And I'm just one of those people who'll sing and dance on the street.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I enjoy being a slow-traveler and interact with the locals. I truly believe that by sharing experiences, the world will be a more lovable place! I started using CS for my bike trip around cute Holland in the summer of 2014. It brought me all I've wished for and even more. I got to know more about my endurance and courage and, most importantly, I met so many interesting people who have become remarkable chapters in my life.
Now settled in Rotterdam, I'm getting quite experienced in hosting together with my boyfriend. I like it a lot as well.
Interests
I'm Asian, so obviously I'm interested in food. Next to that, I like arts, architecture, urban life and having conversations about global or political issues, with a good Belgian brown beer as a lovely assistent.
I like to go out on my bike without a plan, get lost and ask my friends and smiley locals to help me out. Of course I enjoy traveling. And when I'm on the road, all I need in my backpack is a few swear words and a dancing heart :)

Music, Movies, and Books
There's a nerd inside everybody. I like to read and watch science fiction, fantasy and crime. I try to visit the cinema at least once a week. I listen to any music. Recently I started to play the violin. It's super difficult!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So far I've done three long bike trips. France-Belgium-Netherlands, NYC-Boston-Montréal and Rotterdam-Berlin. Awesome memories. I also met some great people from CS during these trips.
I've lived in the jungle in Costa Rica for three months and got my head shaved over there. I felt amazing about my nude head, it felt like being reborn. I definitely want to do it again at some point, although now there are people around me preventing me from cutting it again.
Oh and I had once approached a guy during my trip. It was unexpected yet romantic in my opinion. And we are now in a relationship. OMG.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you playing guitar and cook some Asian dishes. I wanna learn how to ride a bike without crashing all the time.
