ABOUT ME

This is not 'all' about me. Only what is usefull in meeting people. ;-)
I adore meeting people, but need my privacy every day.
Adventurous but the far opposite of reckless.
Not big - not heavy ! ( ^_^ A clear understatement)
Very boyish, sporty-playfull, romping minded, crazy.
Rather 'night owl'.
Other 'animal avatars' include :
'Cat' (frrrr), 'hamster' (Oh my..), 'monkey' (no comment), 'lizzard' (fueled by direct sun radiation).
Chaotic. Dyspraxia.
Very tactile.

PHILOSOPHY

In my personal life, I practise a scale of existential values, that seems to be different from many people, and most organised dogmas : Freedom (including a serious level of safety), prevails over friendship, and friendship prevails over love.
NOT a oneliner, it's deeply backed but not fit for a little box. ;-)
Note. I'm an addict of 'development philosophy'. (Part of ethics studies "on the move", or opposite of dogmatic morality.)

RULES FOR ACCEPTING CS-hosting

First step : My aim is MEETING the other individual , it's essentially about the people, NOT the couch. If your goal is opposite, we're no match. See also lower "Dayhosting". So, knowing your interests and activities is the 'most' important.

Second : simply read 'My home' , most practical info is in there.
Some keypoint - 100% smoke & drug free home. (Insisting : 100%)

Third, I do not welcome : freeloaders, people who expect 'butler services', people who do not respect it's my home with my style of life .... I'm neither a hotel, nor a charity.

4th : To know each other profoundly BEFORE your arrival. (Call it background, identity, reference trust.. whatever). We do not have a deal, when I feel you're hiding your real self. That's why I don't accept last minutes,

5th : You tell me my former 2 cat's names. :-)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm here, because MEETING PEOPLE is my objective. If getting a 'free room' without investing in real personal meeting, is your objective, we've got nothing in common. (Repeating myself ?? .. :-) ...)
Therefore, I also like to receive day-guests ("DAY-HOSTING") to talk a couple of hours over a coffee and/or explore something together ! (some place around my region, Flanders, Belgium... but the base is Temse, and at more or less equal travel time I can meet in Brussels, Gent or Antwerpen depending on free time)

** Right now (edited, 2016.. :-)...), my place is "coming-out-of" a mess, "starting-to-be-able" to receive a surfer. (Due to overload stuff from moving my office, there was not even enough space to place my feet, but this of course is resolving in the time being-&-coming, slowly) :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

With CS, only shared Day-Hosting until now. But I was a longtime (since 1989) member of SERVAS int.
(but also random experience with traveling penpals, loose from SERVAS or CS)

Some usefull information :
> Living in a small town, not one of the cities, it seems that I'm almost exempt of receiving a CS request. (In almost 4 years time, nobody showed interest to pay a visit my town, properly, apart from some suspicious hide-out requests, which I declined)

Jogging (still feel like beginner level in running ..but you can do it together with me , if you want. I can do 26 km now (november update: 30 km ^_^ ), but not fast :-) , will never be fast but will be joyfull ),
Sightseeing with endless stream of stories (I tell, or I listen!),
Piggyback riding (riding & giving, but especially that first option. Join in ! I'dd could exchange my tastefull cooking skills for your thrilling piggyback carry power ^_^),

ON My LOCATION

* GETTING (FROM) HERE
It's true you would need a bit more "time" when staying in a small town, when you want to visit cities, but in Belgium no place at all is far from anywhere.
My town Temse is at almost equal times distances from Antwerpen (Antwerp), Brussel/Bruxelles (Brussels) and Gent (Ghent).
>> Please arrange in your own transport to my place ! (Car, bike, Train, bus, taxi... + feet !)
> There is a train station at just 3 minutes walking,
> and fast busline (busstop at just 2 minutes walking) to Antwerpen with return up to 23:30 or 0:30 am nightime possible.
We're still waiting for the proposed water-bus connection to the centre of Antwerpen.

* TO SEE/DO HERE
- If you like hiking (and bicycling? , running?) , my town Temse is almost paradise, so close to the city of Antwerpen.
- There is a nice small town centre with a hillclimbing marketplace. Were located on the sloop of the river cuesta. If you think this is a completely flat country, you're wrong :-) Many interesting towns and villages, with castles and shipbuilding related heritage are around in the region, at both sides of the river.
- There is the Schelde river as such. At over 100 km from the sea, the tide of the sea still can be felt here. 2 times per day, the water rises and fells over 5 meters in height. This is quite spectacular for people who have never seen river tides before ! There are free small passenger-&-bicycle ferries crossing the river at regular distances, making hiking/bicycling tours very enjoyable !
