About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Think it's a great way to connect to a place and the people that know it best.
Interests
Having worked with various charities over the years I'm really keen on anything related to global social issues etc. I just want to be of some use whilst I'm around. I grew up in the country so am a big one for the outdoors, though love reading a good book while wrapped up in a blanket with an Irish coffee just as much! I'm really interested in spoken word poetry though I haven't got the guts to be doing it myself, also love to dance and enjoy a big old mix of music but unfortunately cannot profess great skill with any kind of instrument... at least not yet!

Music, Movies, and Books
Man's search for meaning by Viktor Frankl is one of my go to books for reflections on life and living. Though equally love Game of Thrones, the books (as usual with these things) completely best the tv series. On the factual side, I love reading about etymology and recently read The Etymologicon and The Adventure of English - completely fascinating and gets my inner geek going. love a wide range of music from Emancipator, Tash sultana, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, Rancid, Falming Lips, Eminem, Toots and the Maytals.. the list goes on. I'm not a music buff though, I tend to just find new tunes accidentally and add it to the eclectic mix. Love a good marvel film, also watched three billboards recently and think that's become a firm favourite, so again quite a random mix taste wise.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Completed a 26 day fast to raise awareness and support for the local food banks. Drinking water only, for the whole duration. Needless to say I won't ever do that again, though it was an incredible experience as I learnt a lot about food; it's social importance, the value of flavour (experiencing a lack of it was excruciating) along side nutritional consideration, whilst collecting for the food banks.
Teach, Learn, Share
Can teach English, also good with crafts so if you randomly want to weave or make a dream catcher I'm happy to show you how.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you need any help with a project or general chores of course happy to lend a hand, also happy to cook - I enjoy baking sweet things! I guess I've only got my conversation and my thoughts to offer aside from that and I hope that by meeting new people I can enjoy my time getting to know a place through those that know it best.
