About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To open children's eyes to all of the wonderful things education has to offer

ABOUT ME

I just finished my first year teaching ESL in an urban elementary school and really can't wait for the next school year to start. In my downtime, I'm a big crafter and try my best to practice yoga regularly. I'm a recent East Coast transplant now living in the Midwest and I miss my home terribly. I'm more of a listener than a big talker. I'm still trying to figure myself out, so hopefully CS experiences will help me fill this section up more!

PHILOSOPHY

A life worth living, is a life served helping others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If you're ever in the Indianapolis area, I would love to cook a yummy veggie meal for you or grab a cup of coffee and show you around this lovely little city!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only heard CS experiences and stories from friends and acquaintances--only good things, of course! Being a full-time teacher, it's very hard for me to travel and experience different lifestyles, but CS can help me succeed in my dreams of seeing the rest of the world! So I'm very excited to begin my CS journey and make memories to share with other members. : )

Interests

Languages, movies, vegan cooking/eating, animals, learning how to knit, running, hiking, daydreaming, picnics, animals, snorkeling, going to restaurants, going to festivals, planning, my at named Harriet, and sight-seeing. I want to add traveling to this list soon!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Ben Folds, DaftvPunk, Elvis Costello, Fleetwood Mac, Local Natives, The Avett Brothers, The Ergs, The Black Keys, Cults, and Tegan and Sara. Though I'm also up for anything with a nice beat made for dancing!
Movies: White Christmas, Wizard of Oz, Grease, Wayne's World, The Runaways, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, Plesantville, What's up, Rockers!, Kids, La Historia Oficial, Rudo y Cursi, The Motorcycle Diaries. I'm up for any movie genre, though!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I snorkeled with manatees. I lobbied on Capitol Hill for the support of African issues.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an elementary ESL teacher, so if anyone would like to learn Spanish, it would be good practice for me! I'm great at making schedules and planning, so if your life is feeling a little cramped and hectic I can help smooth it out a bit. I'm great at making friendship bracelets. I know a few vegan dessert recipes, too.
