About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's plain and simple: my travel experiences with CS have far out-shined any travels I've done in hostels or hotels. It's inspiring to see the number of fascinating and generous people in the world.

Interests

Travel, of course! Also books, music, oil paints, Broadway, and design

Music, Movies, and Books

It's hard for me to come across something I really don't like, but my Spotify account is usually frequented by Bon Iver, Beirut, The Tallest Man on Earth, Björk, Adele, Florence and the Machine, Mumford & Sons, Rufus Wainright, Regina Spektor, and many others!

Films:
Enter the Void (France)
Mary and Max (Australia)
La piel que habito (Spain)
El secreto de sus ojos (Argentina)
J'ai tué ma mère (Canada)
Un chien andalou (Spain)
Les enfants du paradis (France)
Les quatre cents coups (France)
Delicatessen (France)
La môme (France)
Maria eres llena de gracia (Colombia)
El Aura (Argentina)
Into the Wild (USA)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (USA)

In terms of books, it's nearly impossible to pick favorites. I studied Spanish and French literature in college as well, so it's fair to say books are a big part of who I am. It's fair to say I have a preference for all things dystopian, though. These titles and authors have definitely had an impact on me: Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, Lolita, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Harry Potter (duh!), Cien Años de Soledad, Nada, Borges, Cortázar

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The waterfalls of Iguazú were so good I had to see them twice! Also The Great Wall of China, and the Northern Lights

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm sure there are in infinite number of things I can learn from others and that they can learn from me, but things I'm happy to share are English, Spanish, French, and Italian conversation, and of course international cooking is something I'm always willing to learn and teach!
