About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm making an effort to not waste my youth on the young.

ABOUT ME

I'm friendly and sincere, I smile and laugh and give excellent high fives (some have taken to calling me Fiva). I like being around people. I love making conversation. I love community. I love Pittsburgh so deeply. I have a blast as a bartender. I'm easy to get along with.

I commute by bicycle. I like walking long distances -- it's meditative or gives me an excuse to talk on the phone to my mom for 45 minutes. I am more comfortable in the Appalachian forest than I am in the city. It's where I grew up. It soothes my soul to get into rural Pennsylvania. I compost. I do the dishes when someone else makes dinner. I tip outrageously.

PHILOSOPHY

I won't waste my youth on the young.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a Traveler:
I've never traveled alone before. I'm not comfortable going somewhere completely alone. I don't have friends spread out all over the world. I need just a friendly, outstretched hand and my fears of the unknown melt away.

As a Host:
I want to return that outstretched hand in kind.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had some surfers stay on my couch. They've been awesome and make me feel like the world is a much smaller, cozier, nice place to be. I hope to surf soon, myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went winter camping and dog sledding once upon a time. Nothing ever clears your mind like breathing in 20 degree air while sleeping.
September 2013 -- 1200 mile, 22 day, solo, self-contained bicycle tour around the Chesapeake Bay. BOOM
