About Me

Moving to San Diego in January!

I have lived in Idaho, Florida, Hawaii, and briefly, Hollywood California. I've hitchhiked across the United States, walked and ridden buses, trains, and planes across Europe, and driven around the entirety of Iceland in the dead of winter. I've been bungee jumping, skydiving, sailing, skiing, backpacking, motorcycle riding, rafting, and rock climbing, just to see what it's like. I've been in love too many times to count, but never felt happier than when I'm traveling. I get a rush when the plane takes off, and I stare out the window like I'm a kid again, amazed at how tiny everything looks from far away, and excited for where I'm going next.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel light and like to be surrounded by the place and its people. I want to be in a hotel as little as possible.

Interests

I like to learn and try things. I am on a delicious, self-appointed mission to find the best hamburger in Boise. I love facing my fears. I love to explore. I want to experience everything the world has to offer. At home I like to invent stuff, and think about why people do what they do. I'm interested in the origins of things, like evolutionary psychology and etymology and that kind of thing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two amazing things I've seen, and one thing I've done:

a praying mantis trying to attack me as I walked down a sidewalk (brave little guy)

Teach, Learn, Share

Did you know people rub their noses when they are lying, rub their ears when they don't trust something they're hearing, and rub their eye when they're watching something they don't like? If you ask them, they'll say it itched, because it actually did. It's a natural response that goes back to childhood. Crazy, right?!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Granola bars and some great conversation. I also like to help people accomplish things. I can help clean the garage or encourage you to go get that girl, break the glass ceiling, or start your new yogurt shop. I'm pretty encouraging, so watch out you might find yourself deciding to quit that job and move to Tahiti like you always wanted. All in good fun.
