Sobre mí

There aren't too many geographers anymore -- but I guess I'm one of them. I travel, I write, and I'm always seeking out the more obscure locales on the map. I've been on the road for over eleven years in one form or another, whether as a hitchhiking hobo or as a sailor in the US Coast Guard. Whatever the weather, I've got no penchant for staying in one place -- because life's too short and the world is just too big.
Find my work at a publication called Hickman's Hinterlands on Substack.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I primarily travel because I'm interested in people -- and often, I'm visiting or passing through places where I don't know anyone. I've found that Couchsurfing is a fantastic way to gain realistic insights into life in a given region, and moreover, it's an excellent way to have long, in-depth conversations with some really interesting people.
Moreover, I've got a house on the Canadian border in upstate NY. While I'm not there often, I'm open to the possibility of hosting people there, as it'd mean a lot to me to 'pay it forward' for all the times I've been offered a place to rest by folks along the road.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I've hitchhiked over 100,000 miles, and don't expect to stop anytime soon. Hitchhiking is one of my favorite things to do.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I'm willing to help with anything you've got going on, whether you need a hand carrying a heavy thing, putting up a shelf, cooking a meal, building a patio, or whatever it is. And I'm always good for a bottle of wine and an evening of swapping life stories.
