About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover and share...

ABOUT ME

I'm a music student student living in Montreal since almost a year with two friends of mine, musicians also. I am specifically interested by ethnomusicology, which is the study of all the musics of the world, from classical to popular, from traditional to new crossed styles, in a global point of view: anthropological, sociological, analytical, historical, etc. FASCINATING!!! So it's very important for me to learn knowing many many cultures. My actual fieldwork is mostly about Brazil and capoeira, which I do since three years.

What else could I say... I love discover those books, movies, dances and music that one is interested at, I'm a freak intellectual and artist at the same time...

PHILOSOPHY

I live for two reasons: learn and share. Every ways are valuable to spread our values and passions: teaching, writing, creating, singing... I wanna try them all! I also strongly believe in the importance of having a healthy mind in a healthy body.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I simply want to meet people from everywhere, share our cultures, our musics, our passions! I want to build cultural and artistical bridges! Considering my field of study, it's very useful and passionating to know people from everywhere! And I'm sure you'l take advantage of it too...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosting a few people, and have been hosted too during a travel in Philadelphia. Great experiences, I'm looking for more! :)

Interests

Everything that concerns culture: music from all kinds and all countries, movies, books, visual arts, performance, etc. I'm also concerned about social envolvement, which I hope I could include in my musical work...

Music, Movies, and Books

So difficult to choose... If I really have to do so:
Music: Jorane, Sarah Slean, Alanis Morrissette, Marie-Jo Thério, Florence and the machine, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Joss Stone, Béla Bartok, sounds and beats from everywhere, etc. I love those organical rythms that invade you from very deep and make you dance like you never did before! Brazilian maracatu is one of them...

Dances of every kind! My sister studies contemporary dance and it fascinates me.

Movies: le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, Le Violon Rouge, Requiem for a Dream, Central do Brasil, Black Swan, La Haine, all Tarantino, Russian movies subtitled in polish, etc.

Books: Letters to a young poet (R.M. Rilke), Amélie Nothomb, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Marie-Claire Blais, Réjean Ducharme (Quebec)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I find myself so lucky to be musically talented. Every show is a great experience. I had the luck to teach singing to kids in a discriminated district, to sing extracts from an operetta written in a concentration camp during World War II, to sing one of my compositions about anorexia in front of people who has been affected by it... That's those moments that give real sense to my work.

Teach, Learn, Share

(In construction! However, you will learn and teach it all when we'll meet!)
