One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Circle Painting’s first breakthrough took place in 2007 when I was invited by the Southeast Asian Leadership Network, a service learning organization
from Stanford university, to train 100 youth leaders and to help integrating art into their community service projects.
I traveled with them to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia to engage local participants. With people of all ages and from all
walks of life, they created five large-scale paintings that were subsequently displayed at a regional summit of Southeast Asian leaders. These paintings became a literal as well as a symbolic representation of collaboration and goodwill. This experience demonstrated the effectiveness of combining art, service learning, and leadership training. Since then, Circle Painting has successfully used this model for over hundred community projects both in the U.S and overseas.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am committed to provide an engaging and positive learning experience for all students. I integrate music, dance, poetry, and visual arts into my teaching curriculum so students learn to make connections between the art forms. I teach students to maximize their creative power and talents, to learn and to follow, to question and to take risk. I teach students discover the possibilities art presents for them on a more personal level. I teach art because of the love of making art and the joy of sharing it. I teach what I practice.
