About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To help build and repair bridges and find the similarities that make our connections with each other and the world stronger for us all.

ABOUT ME

My husband and I met in Tucson, Arizona while he was on leave from the Army. His mom was our neighbor and she introduced us. We have six children (no twins, one baby at a time). Camping was the only economical way to travel with our young ones. We took them camping thru Mexico and Central America for about four months. We also camped all the way to Alaska and back. I think they still like hiking and camping. We do. Twice a year we make a couple of mission trips to Mexico. Sometimes our kids and grandkids join us on these missions.

PHILOSOPHY

Helping others, especially those in need, is much more fullfilling than helping ourselves. I think we can increase and multiply our compassion one random act of kindness at a time just like in the movie "Pay it Forward."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I joined, we have CouchSurfed in the United States and Spain and Israel. Next CouchSurfing adventures will be in South America, God willing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are brand new CouchSurfers. We have had very good times in the homes of our hosts and hostess. Our first experience in New York, our host came to find us as we were lost in Buffalo. Then he made a midnight pizza run for us. Our second, in Nashville, we enjoyed the beautiful fall colors beginning to change from the hilltop of the home of our hosts while sipping gourmet coffee and savouring home-made coffee cake!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Gospel, Mariachi, Country, Latin rythms
Movies: Documentaries, such as A Beautiful Mind, Patch Adams and Patton but comedies and mysteries are good too.
Books: I have read Three Cups of Tea and The Power of Half, Enrique's Journey, and I am halfway thru Black Banners.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Our family participated in the home delivery of our youngest son, which was an awesome experience. Since then I've seen the awesome delivery of three of our grandsons. The Aurora Borealis was awe-inspiring, so was hiking the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Copper Canyon in Chihuahua, Mexico. Also the hike in the jungle to take a view of the Poas and Irazu Volcanos in Costa Rica was pretty special.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can practice Spanish with you and show you how to cook a Mexican recipe. I would like to learn to speak French and Italian.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Italy, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Spain, Virgin Islands, U.S.
