About Me
"Be curious, not judgmental."
-Walt Whitman
"Don't be shy. Don't be cool."
-Ian MacKaye
I try to live according to the statements above as much as possible by living life with an open, empathetic heart. I love to travel and want to experience as much of the world as I can in my short time on it. Collect fewer things and more experiences!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Me and my friend Jess (https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/2000372195/profile) are embarking on a six week European backpacking adventure in June-August of 2015, and we want to meet some awesome people along the way. I’ve heard great things about the couch surfing community and can’t wait to become an official member and contributor!
Interests
Music is and always will be a huge part of my life. I’ve played piano since I was 10 and am rarely not singing the wrong words to my favorite songs. I love being outdoors, exploring, laughing, silliness, concerts, cooking, COFFEE, conversation, dancing, drinking, reading, yoga

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC:
I like a little bit of everything and don’t discriminate genres, but most of what I frequent is on the alt/ indie side. Currently spinning a lot of Delta Spirit, James Blake, TV on the Radio, Death from Above 1979, Phantogram, Run the Jewels, Saintseneca, and Panda Bear. And bring on that Taylor Swift. I don’t believe in guilty pleasures!
MOVIES:
Dramas that make me cry both sad and happy tears, like Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump. Also, anything that reminds me of my childhood that I've seen 50 times, like Jurassic Park and Hook.
TV:
Comedies that I can watch on Netflix. Also, THE TWILIGHT ZONE!
Favorites- Louis, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Arrested Development
BOOKS:
Lately been reading lots of non-fiction. Over the last few years, I’ve unconsciously curated a collection of memoirs by comedians and successful business folk. I'm inspired by and like to learn from other people's experiences.
Currently Reading- Mindfulness by Ellen Langer (and it's slowly changing my life); The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor
All Time Favorites- Born Standing Up, Harry Potter Series, East of Eden, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (and science fiction in general)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went surfing in Costa Rica, and my surf instructor unknowingly taught me about living a happy life on your own terms.
While in the Dominican Republic, me and some friends took a midnight swim in the Caribbean Sea as a thunderstorm was brewing a few miles away. The distant lightning over the water was magic!
I’m looking to add some more to this list this year!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to make one bitchin’ batch of cold brew coffee and how to do a proper headstand
What I Can Share with Hosts
An open heart, a listening ear and some Tennessee charm
Countries I’ve Visited
Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State
