About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To bring my current franglais to francais parfait
ABOUT ME
Vancouver born and raised. Love the city dearly, but one day (as I biked to yoga in the rain wearing my MEC rainjacket with my decorated rain boots) that I was becoming too much of a Vancouver stereotype and perhaps it was time to live somewhere else for awhile. As it happened my goal at that time was to achieve fluency in French, and so now that is how I came to Lyon in October. I wanted to challenge myself by going to a city where I knew no-one, and it turned out pretty well! :) Now I am living here until the end of this summer, when I will start a new adventure in Paris!
PHILOSOPHY
This too shall pass
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Plutôt social, j'ai voyagé très peu recemment (dommage!)
Interests
travel (clearly!), social issues/current events (particularly environment and politics), learning about other cultures, good food, hiking, Bollywood (film, music, and dance), wine (good or bad - it's the people you drink it with that make the difference), other people`s opinions and perspectives

Music, Movies, and Books
J'essaie à lire des romans en français de plus en plus... j'ai recemment fini L'amour dure trois ans (ouai j'ai vu le film aussi) In terms of novels I also have read and loved: If this is a Man (Primo Levi), A Fine Balance, I Capture the Castle, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Shadow of the Wind, Count of Monte Cristo, Harry Potter(but they did go downhill after the fourth one!) and others whose names I have forgotten. I love to read, but my memory for books is terrible.
Other (non-fiction, I suppose) books I've read recently and found really interesting include: Eating Animals (after listening to an LSE Podcast), Dead Aid, and Out of Poverty.
Movies: I don't have a TV, and I still haven't figured out how to download/stream movies online, and so I usually only watch movies when I'm on a plane...
Music: I <3 CBC radio 3, Bollywood music
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Recent pinch-me moments:
Dancing "si tu sais pas danser" with/in front of hundreds of french university students. While dressed as Marie Antoinette.
Hiking in Chamonix - it is so beautiful!
One thing I've learnt from this year is that small acts of hospitality mean so much when you're living far away from what you called home
Countries I’ve Visited
Croatia, Cuba, France, India, Nepal, Switzerland, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
