ABOUT ME

Janelle: I am a 20-something girl traveling the world with my fiance. I can be a bit shy at times, but also extroverted and talkative--I guess it just depends. :)

Hugh: I am a 20-something guy traveling the world. I like ceramics, music, and travel.

We are really flexible and independent. We love being shown around, but we are also perfectly capable of exploring an area on our own. We are just as happy being quiet and going to bed early as we are staying out late and partying.

We would not describe ourselves as backpackers, although we have backpacks. We're not obessed with budgets or finding hometown pubs. We are travelers who enjoy the experience of living with real people in an area and doing the things they want to do.

We currently live in Japan, but I (Janelle) have also lived in Sydney, Los Angeles, and Chicago...I'm planning to try and double that in the next 5 years.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe it's the regrets over the things you didn't do that eat at you, not the things you did do.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although we are new to this website, we have had fair shares of couch surfing experiences with friends, acquaintances, and host families. We'd love to be able to return the hospitality to others in the future when we finally settle down.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood on a cliff with each other in Japan overlooking the Eastern Pacific ocean, watching a thunderstorm roll in. We decided to wait for the rain to hit us, and as we did we heard the mournful wailings of a Shinto priest singing out into the storm several hundered yards away on the beach below.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach us your language and we will teach you English or Japanese. :) We can also cook quite a variety of food from around the world (Janelle hosted an international cooking class in my town in Japan) and would be happy to cook for you!

Hugh is into ceramics and turntabalism... if you happen to have a pottery wheel or a turn-table, then he'd love to share styles with you.
