About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Always looking for the most meaningful 'mission' and being sure to help others out and make the most of life and along the way

ABOUT ME

My parents were full on 'hippies' drove around the USA in a VW and went to Woodstock etc and I was raised from an alternative perspective. We moved to Hawaii when I was a kid and I grew up there - a really crazy place to grow up! Now I feel like a bit of an alien here in Sweden where there isn't a whole lot of real or figurative warmth - but I do what I can to generate/spread as much as possible.

I've been a member for four years but never got around to writing something here! I love to travel because of the great connections with inspiring people and transforming experiences. I really love meeting new people. Teaching has been fun since it is such a social job - but it means less travels though! I'm a free / independent thinker and I'm interested in the development of the spirit/soul and well... I think we develop through knowing / loving others.

It seems the 'my travels' aspect of this is very time consuming so I'll mention here that I've roamed all over North America every summer since I was 16 often with big caravans of friends going to various festivals and arranging our own gatherings and adventures. I used to take more extended trips of three or four months of travels, but work has shortened them somewhat recently - I have more money but not near enough time.

I've gone on four extensive Europe tours, one when I was 18, then 19, then 24, and then 31. It was during my trip when I was 19 that I began living part time (and eventually full-time) in Sweden. There are still a lot of European countries that I've only briefly visited or never been to - and many I hope to revisit! Love E Europe - the Tatra mountains, Prague, Budapest, well... all of it!

Since my parents are in Hawaii and I prioritize visiting them, I usually manage to spend some weeks in the islands each winter.

I've gone on two somewhat superficial 'round the world' trips when making my way from Hawaii to Europe 'the back way' stopping through and exploring NZ, Australia, and SE Asia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't know... I've only participated very little over the years... Stayed with some great folks in Vienna back when I first joined... otherwise never really 'surfed' but have met some awesome people visiting other parts of Europe. A lot of my traveling is usually in the USA or other places where I already have loved ones to catch up and stay with which is part of why I've not done much couchsurfing in my travels. I'm going to Brighton soon for a few weeks with work - won't need a couch but I still plan to meet some wonderful folks through CS. It looks like there are some great folks here in Sweden that I should connect with... just got to find the time - hope to and have been meaning to go to some events and to host some surfers...
