This is Himmat Rana, and I have embarked on a 4-year mission of: exploring, learning and sharing, the mystery that is India. I will be trekking over 10,000 km, across all the 29 states of India, in over 4 years.
And here I am, 3 years into my journey (as on 1st Aug 2019), having trekked over 4000 km through 6 states, all this while carrying my whole house on my shoulders and living out of a tent, that I now share my insights and experiences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To visit new places and meet new people. I feel no one knows a place better than the locals and so couchsurfing proves to be the perfect solution.
Interests
Love to explore, learn and share: India.
Wanted to see the world, and so traveled to 6 countries, only to realize that I had forgotten to visit my own. It was traveling abroad, that made me realize and respect the abundance and variety, that we are blessed with, and maybe thus, take for granted.
It wasn’t long until I realized that, one cannot fathom the diversity or claim to understand its people by just: reading books, visiting touristic spots, witnessing festive celebrations, living in hotels or spending a few weeks in a state. It would require a much more immersive interaction with reality, which still lives far away and a very different life than what we are accustomed to or imagine. And so, dropped all inhibitions and quit my job at Maruti Suzuki India Limited as a Manager, where I had happily served for over 10 years, to travel the length and breadth of this beautiful and mysterious country.
