About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Loving life and not taking it too seriously, meeting cool new people and seeing the world!

ABOUT ME

Josh:
I'm easy to get along with and apparently too nice[according to Megan], which is a problem I'm cool with. I'm obsessed with music, mostly metal[NOT metallica, mostly progressive stuff like Intronaut, Animals as Leaders, Cult of Luna] and some alternative rock, but anything with a good deal of talent. I play drums for the melodic doom band "Affasia". I love video games[fps, rpg, moba, everything in between.] I feel that people take things too seriously and at the time I'm not interested in leading the life everyone eventually falls in to. I want to experience more before I get sucked in.

Megan:
Coming soon (was very outdated)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Heard about CS from a friend of mine I met through a video game[SOLDAT W00T] who talked about(and either is currently or just got back from) traveling Europe using this site. Me and my beautiful wife decided rather than a standard honeymoon, we'd rather just kind of go and see where we end up... This decision made me think of this site. Rather than having to sleep in my tiny Dodge Neon, maybe some awesomely amazingly cool people would let us stay on their couch [or floor, or somewhere I won't kick my window out while I sleep]. Our trip went amazingly and the CSers we met have restored my faith in humanity.. Somewhat ;). We have now hosted a few people, and are loving that as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The amazing people in this community made our honeymoon road trip possible. We've met some of the coolest, nicest, most down to earth people through this site. We surfed 20-something couches on our honeymoon, but have hosted only twice. All amazing experiences I would do all over again if I had the chance. Surfed a few couches and met up with around 20-30 other CSers in Switzerland and Morocco... I can't imagine travel without CS.

Interests

Travel, music[playing and listening], video and board games, paintball/airsoft, things I've yet to consume, things I've yet to experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

All of this is collective between the two of us and in no particular order.

Movies:
Snatch, Anything by Pixar, Dogma[and everything else Kevin Smith has done], Enemy at the Gates, Sin City, Ned Kelly, The Dark Knight, anything with Zach Galifinakis in it.

Music:
36 Crazyfists, Intronaut, Protest The Hero, The Human Abstract, Mastodon, Staind, Chevelle, Pulse Ultra, Dead Poetic, The Hunt for Ida Wave, Gojira, Brand New, Pearl Jam, Flaw, Eternal Lord, Slipknot, Earshot, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Five Iron Frenzy, Incubus, The Cranberries, Killswitch Engage, Flyleaf, [old] Lamb Of God, Underoath, [old] System of a Down, and [old] Mudvayne... Just to name a few ;)

Books:
Anything by Orson Scott Card [Freaking Genius!], the Drizzt Du Urden Books by R.A. Salvatore, Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, The Saxon Tales series by Bernard Cornwell. Megan likes "biographies and cheesy romantic crap" [her words].

Games:
A media CS forgets about, and one of our favorites. We are lovers of games of all types, from board games to PC games. We own a Wii, DS, and an Xbox 360. We are in love with the less known board/card games such as Ticket to Ride, Dominion, Tichu, Munchkin, Carcassonne, Killer Bunnies, Bang!, and Fluxx to name a few. We're not opposed to a good old game of monopoly now and then though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went on a CS road trip around the US for our honeymoon.. Impossible to describe in one text box.

Met up with CSers, Met up with some of them again, followed one of them to Tangier, hooked up with his friends and traveled a few days with them.. My kind of travel.. Maybe not Megans(not as spontaneous).. but she had a good time too.

Met my wonderful wife on a roof I'd helped re-shingle on a church youth trip to Florida.. In August... It was hot.. Miserable work but much more rewarding than I'd have imagined. Changed my life. God is awesome like that. I hope this website helps me have some more incredible experiences to put here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a horrible teacher, and a horrible learner(unless the subject interests me greatly, and then I mostly teach myself and rely on the internet). I can share all sorts of things that you'd probably find useless. Megan is an excellent teacher, and is a highly trained financial advisor.
