ABOUT ME

My name is Alicia, I recently decided to put college on hold and travel the world while I can. I'm living in Holland as an au pair and I have so many places I want to visit this year! I love meeting new people, especially locals because they can show you the city the way no tour will!

*I Love hugs and usually give them out free of charge.
*I will talk about Harry Potter for days on end if you'll let me.
*In my opinion, honesty is the best quality a person can have.
*I am very outgoing and love talking to random people.
*I'm from the mid-west, where you will meet the nicest people in America. It's completely normal to smile, wave and/or say hello to every stranger you see.
*Working in retail stores and resturaunts has taught me the importance of being POLITE.
*I like to give people a hard time, but really I'm jus testing you to make sure you can laugh at yourself.
*I love the word 'fixin' and wish I could integrate it into my vocabulary. ie: I'm fixin to go to Wal-Mart :P

PHILOSOPHY

At this point in my life, I'm questioning a lot about religion and what's the truth versus stories, however, when it comes down to it, I believe everyone should have good morals, be kind to others, and never judge a book by it's cover.

I try to go to meetings and if anyone ever wants to meet up for coffee or a drink, I love meeting new people so just send me a message! I'm fairly new to Holland myself but I'd love to meet people who want to see new things as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only been to one meeting so far, but the more I learn about it the better it's sounding!

Interests

I enjoy doing things outdoors! I don't get to enough, but I really love rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, repelling, and camping!

My hobbies include photography, Ballet, sightseeing, shopping, reading, watching movies, hiking, and just chilling out! I'm easily pleased.

Music: I listen to a bit of everything! My favorite music would be 90s rock and anything I can dance to! I went to Bonnaroo 08 and 09 and it was an amazing experience!! It warms my heart to know that 90,000 people can create a small community and live together harmonously, even if only for 3 days.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was involved in a church mission trip where we helped many different people in many different ways. For some, it was painting their homes when they couldn't afford to, and for others, it was building a ramp into their home after they had been forced to use a wheelchair. Those people were so grateful and happy that we were there, it changed my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn!! History was my favorite school subject and I think it's very important. I try to go on a tour of every city I visit to learn the history first, then go check out the party scene. ;)

I also think that every person I meet has something unique to teach me as well, and if they are willing to teach, I am ALWAYS willing to learn.

I also have a lot I can teach you, but being from Iowa, the first and foremost thing I can think of to teach is how to make the best scalloped corn you'll ever taste :)
