Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Jenn and I are currently traveling North America in a truck camper. We're trying to see and do all we can before it's time to go back to work and refill the bank accounts.

ABOUT ME

Jenn and I are a couple of UNIX system administrators that got tired of the cubicle life. For the past year, we've been living in a truck camper fulltime and touring the US on a shoe string budget.

We're in our (still low) 30's and becoming more active the more time we spend on the road. With any luck at all, we'll be as active as seven year olds by the time it's all over and they toss the dirt in.

As a rule, we don't discuss politics or religion, but if you really want to you'll get some pretty bizarre answers depending on time of day, alcohol content and what the random number generator comes up with. We're tolerant of just about anything and working to become better human beings in general.

PHILOSOPHY

We're just a couple of people trying to enjoy life as much as we can before it's all over. You do the best you can to get along with other people and hope they can accept your own faults and eccentricities. If they can't, then it's probably not a big loss.

At the same time, you have to respect everyone else and accept personal and cultural differences. In he end, we're all just people with our faults, fears, failings, doubts and merits. Try to see the merits and ignore the rest.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've found that the best experiences we have when traveling is from meeting and hanging out with the local people. Too often, we wind up in an area and leave without really experiencing the place because we don't know anyone there and don't meet the right people.

Unfortunately, our couch is moving from place to place, but we're always willing to pull out a camp chair and build a fire. Heck, we even have room for one or two people to sleep as long as they don't mind extremely close quarters. Bring a tent though, and breakfast is on us. You can pick anywhere in the entire yard to set up!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've had a few near strangers offer to let us setup camp in their yards in the past year and have really enjoyed those times. We've made strong friendships this way and have changed our lives in many small ways as a result. The more people you meet and spend time with, the larger your capacity for understanding people becomes.

Intereses

Basically, if you're doing something interesting, we'll probably be interested!

Off the top of my head:
Caving, gardening, archery, fishing, hiking, computers (hardcore geeky ones), alternative lifestyle, camping, Rving, brewing, distilling, creating liqueurs, reading, writing.

Música, películas y libros

Music: I can listen to anything that's not pop. Jazz, however has a special place in my soul as it often has no lyrics to get stuck in your head for days on end.

Books: The list is endless. I prefer sci-fi and cyberpunk the last decade or so, though.

Movies: Hey, I like vegging out in front of the idiot box as much as the next guy. Don't ask me to pick one though.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Living together in the back of a pickup truck for over four years.. with a cat and a dog!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Things we'd like to learn about: languages and cultures, alternative lifestyles, hunting and gathering, fiber arts, welding, mechanics, brewing, distilling, geeky/esoteric knowledge.

Things we can teach: a dozen variants of UNIX/Linux, computer languages (C, PHP, Perl, SQL, HTML, CSS), (basic) archery, tanning, making liqueurs, fulltime RVing, RV shopping, knitting, crocheting, caving, (basic) ropework, (basic) rock climbing, (basic) cutting and soldering, how to live in 200 sq. feet with a significant other and two cats!

Things we can share: Old time radio shows, homemade liqueurs, a most awesome chocolate pie, homemade cookies, play time with our cats, DVDs we're tired of, our RV as a base camp for your next expedition!
