About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making this world just a bit better place :)

ABOUT ME

Time is our most valuable (and in fact the only non-renewable) personal resource. And if there are several hundreds (or sometimes thousands) CS members in one particular location you plan to travel to - sure you're not able to write a personal message to all of them. Passing through some 22000+ profiles (example of Seoul, Korea) even briefly, to select a few for "personal approach", would take days, if not weeks - and is, in fact, practically impossible. And if most of them decline or do not react at all (it sometimes happens, as e.g. once happened to me with Singapore and Australia) - you might end up writing those "personalised messages" for weeks or months before your trip, without sleeping or eating, all the rest of your life virtually stopped. And eventually still not having a couch - and perhaps even cancelling your trip! So I personally don't mind too much how "personalised" message you write me. However, I still expect you to take a minute to read through or at least to take a look at my profile. And contact me only if you really want to meet me or stay at me (not just desperately searching for a free place to stay). I live quite far from the city centre and have not very good conditions at the moment (more details in personal, after your request), so you might easily prefer somebody else with better / more convenient conditions.

NB! Please take a note that I personally utterly dislike a "newspeak", where normal words are reduced to single letters, or something else more or less freaky. I mean using a style something like this (just one example from a message once received):

*** Ma gf n i r gonna visit tallin estonia soon ***

It is extremely annoying to read this kind of text, and I really don't feel of being obliged to f**k my brain by chewing through such crud, be it short or long. If you take a trouble to send me a message or a request, may I kindly ask you to use NORMAL and CONVENTIONAL English?! Please respect your addressee as well as yourself. If you just can't - go to some course where they'll teach you. If you think it's cool and funny - please send your witticisms to somebody else. Any requests / messages using that kind of pidgin shall be turned down, or simply ignored, by me.

PHILOSOPHY

*** Collecting emotions & experiences ***

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To the best of my abilities. Mainly by hosting. But sometimes (while travelling) by surfing as well. I have hosted several people in my home, and do hope somebody will host me, if/when I need it in my turn.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A number of hostings in my home. Some meetings with CS members in other countries. Some surfing abroad (mainly in Australia and New Zealand) as well as here in Estonia.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wide range, almost everything. Music mostly from the 1980-ies. Books - once again mostly about history and politics. And travelling (surprise).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Piloting a plane and a helicopter (instructor aside) in Wanaka, New Zealand, in October 2013.

Total solar eclipse in March 2006 in Cappadocia, Turkey. Something to remember for a lifetime, and to recommend everybody to see. The next total solar eclipse seen in November 2012 in North Queensland, Australia - almost as magnificent as the first one :). And recently a third one in August 2017 in Wyoming, USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

While travelling, getting insight into local homes and mental world, happiness and sadness, passions and worries. Offering the same from my side. Cultural, emotional and social exchange - mutually enriching.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States
