About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see as much as I can, challenge myself as much as possible, learn from others everyday, and live a happy and fulfilling life!
ABOUT ME
I've just finished my undergraduate degree in Microbiology and now I'm looking to find work, make the world a better place, and further my personal development by taking some time off from school and moving to a completely new state...California. The land of gold rushes, earthquakes, and of course, the governator. I just received my EMT certifications from California, and am hoping to work on an ambulance or in an emergency room in a hospital. Someday, I want to enter medical school and become a physician.
Originally, I'm from the great state of Alabama, which is a totally different world to anyone outside the southeastern United States. Growing up in the South has taught me about: 1.) Southern cuisine, including collard greens, shrimp grits, and other dishes of this nature and (2.) Southern hospitality, including inviting people to sleep on your couch if you have one! And to that end, Southern manners, meaning that if I sleep on your couch, you can count on my gratitude and helpfulness around your place if you need.
I enjoy being outside in general doing anything, really: running, whitewater rafting, sleeping, reading, cooking, listening to music, climbing things (or trying to), gardening, and eating. I really like meeting new people and hearing their stories--this is part of the reason I want to go into medicine. I've been employed in the past as a veterinary assistant, a housecleaner, a gardener, a research assistant, a dishwasher, a whitewater raft guide, and a camp counselor.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live each day fully, keeping myself very much in the present, but being mindful of my ultimate goals, my past life lessons, and actively caring as deeply for others as I would want them care for me.
Those three things are enough to keep up with for me, but I believe firmly in living the values of compassion, forgiveness, empathy, determination, persistence, and honesty.
I cannot say that I'm particularly spiritual, but I'm open to hearing others' beliefs and do not discredit the power of religion...
