ABOUT ME

Hey ! Bienvenue sur mon profil, welcome, salaam, namaste, 欢

PHILOSOPHY

Whatever the situation, feeling bad leads nowhere. Let's be optimistic and do our best with the smile.
Also, I noticed complicated way is usually wrong, lazy way too... Simplicity and good mind will give you great mind.
Oh, don't forget to share thing ! I learnt this from free software community, but that's actually much more than software.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Try to help people around. Traveller or not, Couchsurfer or not... If they need a hand, I try to help. That's the point of CouchSurfing I guess.
Also, CS meetings and events are fun and good way to hang out in a city, even though it's been a while I didn't join a meeting...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I discovered CouchSurfing in summer 2009. Friend of mine took me to a CS meeting. The beginning of a long and great adventure ! My best time have been in China, not so easy to be hosted, but probably the best way to hang out!

Interests

Let's face it, I'm a geek : I love programming ! I even feel kind of an artist with keyboard in hands :D.
Hey, don't runaway, doesn't mean I have no life... I love music, try to discover many instrument, even though I don't master even one.
Traveling is life ! More general than traveling, try to understand the world, learn from different cultures is the best way I found to develop myself.
Anyway I'm very curious, anything can be interesting if you pay attention !

Music, Movies, and Books

Groundation changed my life ! This band is just perfect, after years I still feel more and more by listening them. So, Reggae music is what brings me best feeling. But I like about any kind of music. Some artists : Pink Floyd, Babylon Circus, Mano Solo, Ez3kiel, Korpiklaani, High Tone, Danakil, Black Uhuru, New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, Eddie Vedder, Keny Arkana... And so much more ! I'm also curious about world music. Right now I try to get on Sufi music, that's wonderful music from a wonderful philosophy.

Recently I didn't read so much :(. But still like it. I love science fiction and fantasy (I know... I'm a geek ^^) : Isaac Asimov, J.R.R. Tolkien, Robin Hobb, Glen Cook, Bernard Werber... I also read some books about science, society or philosophy (usually all in the same book). For those who know, Hubert Reeves is my favourite author, I'd love to get a grand-pa like him.
If you have some to advice, I'm listening to you!

About movies, don't know so much. But if you're a fan of Doctor Who, consider we're already friends !!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first big experience when I came to Quebec at 15y-o, hosted in a family. I was young so I didn't have true experience without my parents. And this family took me to amazing things, like spending 3 days in a small desert island, or zodiac boat surrounded by whales... Also there I met a French friend Kayaking on a river, thousand of km from our town, wtf... The world is smaller than we think.

I'll never forget Chinese trains. So messy, dirty crowded, noisy, ass-breaking on the seat, for 10 to 24h... Love it :D. Yeah, really, there only locals, nobody even speaks English (who said French ?), and they were so curious to see a white guy... that's the best way to speak Chinese ahahah !

Nepal was great too, with my girlfriend, hosted by a family in a little farm for 3 weeks. I'll never forget this Hindu festival in the village, and hospitality of the people. That's also nice to wake up in the house, on a hill (they call it hill, I call it mountain), and when it's not cloudy see Himalaya, at the opposite side of the country !

Teach, Learn, Share

I say it and I repeat : geek powaa ! So whether you're interested by anything about computer, or even better : Free Software culture, don't hesitate to ask me.
I'm not so good at playing music, so I like to learn anything about it.
Foreign languages are cool too. I love listening about travelling stories, and learn more about any culture.

Sure, there are many things I could teach you, or I'd like to learn... this sharing of culture and experiences, that's what we call life !
