About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Help me help you.

ABOUT ME

I live mostly in my own head, and don't really do much of anything unless it strikes me as at least one kind of funny. For just this reason, I've dropped everything, moved to Austin, Texas, taken up residence with, married, and commenced making babies with my long-estranged high school sweetheart. Mandela Rose, our first, finally showed up in April. Amelia Bliss came bumbling after. Boo$h.

PHILOSOPHY

Structure and function are best pals. If we can figure out how they relate to one another, and then lovingly communicate our newfound smarts to each other, maybe we'll get somewhere. Or not. On the whole, I guess I'm a humanist. The secular kind.

Interests

Fatherhood, science education, rock climbing, cycling, good movies, better music, cooking, archery, anthropology, comparative politics, travel, comical facial hair, linguistics, and art so bad it's awesome again.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a hobo dressed better than me on the G train drinking what I'm assuming was booze out of a hole in a plastic shopping bag.

Teach, Learn, Share

Most of my couchsurfing has been of the hobo school, so let's see..

If you get yourself a cheapo dehydrator and then look up produce suppliers in the yellow pages (which you then hit up after dark), you'll have yourself a free source of your favorite fruits and veggies year-round. Blend in some sunflower oil or seeds and you've got yourself the ideal travel food. If it comes out too mushy, add an apple or two (for the pectin). If it's too tacky, add some bananas.

More to come later..

So far as learning's concerned, I'd definitely be up for brushing up on my Spanish and German, or hearing about a new author. All things food, also. I wanna learn me some new cookery tricks, and gardening, canning, brewing, pickling... All things food!
