About Me

My wife Elischéba and I are a young adventurous and outgoing couple, with no kids... yet. We love discovering other cultures, and love to help other people discover ours! And most of all we love to love everyone, no exceptions!

I am a manager of a mobile food pantry. I take food from grocery stores that was going to be thrown in the trash and that is still perfectly good, and distribute it to people in Dakota County. Keeping valuable resources like food out of the landfill and into people's homes is a win win!!

My wife, Elischéba, is a software test engineer. She is pretty much the best tester ever and she is an awesome leader in whatever she does. French is her native language, and she is fluent in English, and pretty dang good in Spanish.

Jesus loves you no matter what! Seriously, no exceptions. Nothing can separate you from His unconditional love!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We have hosted a few people so far and we have really enjoyed it. We are very flexible and willing to accommodate.
We do ask that you read our Arrival Expectations before you contact us.

We have surfed a few times and have had nothing but positive experiences.

We are very glad something like this works so well. It is such a phenomenal way to meet people and see the world.

Interests

Conserving resources, slacklining, skiing, reading, music, Jesus, traveling, camping, canoeing, hiking, biking, cooking, family, learning new languages, the list goes on...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We've seen the sun rise and set over the Namib desert after climbing a 170 m tall sand dune. JUST BEAUTIFUL!

Teach, Learn, Share

We will teach you how to slackline, if you don't know what it is, it's like tightrope walking but we don't use rope. We use 1 inch (2.5 cm) tubular webbing and a pulley system to get it really really tight between two trees. Usually it is about 2.5 - 3 feet (about 1 meter) off the ground, and it's a blast, you will be addicted in no time. Famous words of every slackliner, "one more time".

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love to show people the beauty of the Twin Cities. This area is very rich in cultural history and natural beauty. We also love to share Ivorian food with anyone who would like to try it!

Arrival Expectations:

The first day that you arrive, you will need to arrive when we are home. Weekdays before 21:30, weekends are flexible. We work and are not able to let you in to our house during most normal working hours. We will arrange an arrival time when your request is accepted.

Also, we value clear communication and expectations. It is important to us that you respect that so that you have a pleasant experience surfing in our home and we have a pleasant experience hosting you. Our home is not a hotel, you cannot show up at an unplanned time and expect us to be here. We understand that plans change and we are willing to work with you, but you HAVE to communicate with us in a timely manner about your time of arrival and any delays/changes.

When you arrive, here's what to expect:
We will welcome you in our home, give you a tour and show you your room and bathroom. Depending on the time we will gladly share a meal with you. If you don't want to or can't eat with us, please tell us so ahead of time. We will also go over a few house rules with you.
When you send us a request, please include the phrase "D'accord-Akwaba" to let us know that you've read and understood these expectations.
