About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel, travel, travel! We want to see as much of the world as we can and try as many different foods as possible!

ABOUT ME

We are newlyweds with a shared dream of traveling the world. We are both open-minded and excited to meet new people, see new things, and most importantly, try new food!

PHILOSOPHY

"What you feel in the presence of a thing you admire is just one word--'Yes.' The affirmation, the acceptance, the sign of admittance. And that 'Yes' is more than an answer to one thing, it's a kind of 'Amen' to life, to the earth that holds this thing, to the thought that created it, to yourself for being able to see it. But the ability to say 'Yes' or 'No' is the essence of all ownership. It's your ownership of your own ego. Your soul, if you wish. Your soul has a single basic function--the act of valuing. 'Yes' or 'No,' 'I wish' or 'I do not wish.' You can't say 'Yes' without saying 'I." There's no affirmation without the one who affirms. In this sense, everything to which you grant your love is yours."

We spend our time searching for those YESs - why waste our time on anything else??

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have used the CouchSurfing site both to surf and to meet people in places we've visited. It's always nice to meet others with the travel mindset! We have also hosted a few people in our hometown.

Interests

We are both avid soccer players and have been playing our whole lives. When we are not on the soccer field, you can find us on the dance floor or in the kitchen--we love to cook and eat! We both love to be outside, whether it's on a hike somewhere beautiful so we can enjoy nature or with cows and chickens on a farm.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: Gladiator, Lord of Rings trilogy, Planet Earth, The Godfather trilogy, Amelie, Ratatouille (and pretty much any Disney/Pixar movie), among many others.

MUSIC: Dream Theater. And pretty much everything else.. What isn't there to love about music?

BOOKS: George R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, The Fountainhead, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, Catch-22, and all cookbooks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Perhaps the most amazing thing so far was quit our jobs to travel Central/Eastern Europe for 4 months in 2012. It was a fun, crazy, challenging, memorable experience that opened our eyes to the beauty of this world and the people in it and challenged our minds, our ways of thinking, our lifestyles. We've got plans for plenty more trips like that in the future!

Teach, Learn, Share

Steve (the husband) is the only one in this marriage who can bake a decent loaf of bread.

Madeline (the wife) is amazingly fast at word searches.

Between the two of us, we can name every single country from Sporcle's "Countries of the World" challenge.

And we are damn good cooks. And soccer(football) players.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Puerto Rico, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
