About Me

Writer living in Manila at the moment but that is about to change in the next year. Let's see. I have been traveling at least once a month since 2012 as my way of giving the finger to the desk jobs that have tied me down for the past few years.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Here primarily to surf. Can't host at the moment since I'm still living with family, but would love to meet up and show you around my city.

Interests

Riding my bike all over the city, discovering random streets and alleyways, yoga, drinking wine, staying up til the sunrise, pop culture, cities

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Oasis for life in general. Joy Division for being moody. Radiohead for angst or dramatic self-reflection. The Flaming Lips for rainy-sunny days. Jason Mraz for swinging in hammocks and long drives. Kygo, Honne for sunsets. Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Strokes for running. Bjork for days when I feel like I need a conversation with a spaced-out fairy. The Rent soundtrack for showers. Robyn for getting ready for a night out. A little bit of Taylor Swift and Carly Rae for Dear Diary moments. Space Oddity by David Bowie is my personal anthem.

Movies: Lost in Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums, Almost Famous

Books: Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, On the Road by Jack Kerouac, and, well I'm a literature major so this could go on and on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lately, one of the things I'm proudest of is surviving the full moon party in Koh Pha Ngan with both flipflops still intact, which is a lot more than I can say for my memory of that night. It's been almost a year and I still have no idea how I managed that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to improve my Spanish, and help people improve their English or Tagalog skills. I also love experimenting in the kitchen, and can make a mean Filipino adobo (meat stewed in garlic and vinegar, basically perfection) and perfect fluffy white rice so I can feed you if you want, or teach you how to make it!
