Overview
About Me
Hello, at the moment I spend my time between Canada and Mexico. I work as a makeup artist, mainly in television and film but also stage and contract work. I am originally from England but my parents moved to Canada when I was a baby. I want to do some travelling in Europe (Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, etc.) and get to know England as an adult. I am even considering moving there!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I decided to join Couchsurfing as a suggestion from my cousin, who travels a lot. I had asked for her advice in traveling Europe on a budget!
Interests
I love gardening, nature, animals, music, dancing, eating, learning about different cultures, languages and travelling. I am vegetarian and love to cook and bake but am no expert! I am not bad at painting and drawing. I started hot yoga a couple of months ago!
My favourite seasons are spring and summer because of all the growth and warmth but winter and fall in Canada are absolutely beautiful too, and because we have so much space you can really enjoy adventure in every season. As an adult, I still love sledding down the snow-covered hills.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite type of music is reggae music and I am a bit of an expert. I have even started to write reggae songs too but am a bit shy about it yet. But I also love other types of music and know how to dance some samba and salsa.
I love all kinds of movies, but especially sci-fi and fantasy. I have a huge imagination so I like to be taken away! Also, since I work in movies, this is important because I find myself criticizing things if they don't capture my attention enough!
For books I also love fantasy and books set in different time periods! I recently read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, that was great! A favourite children's author of mine has always been Roald Dahl. Lately, I really enjoy a long book that I can keep reading and reading. I Enjoyed Coming Home and The Pillars of the Earth. I always feel a bit like mourning after I finish a good book.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think what I'm most proud of actually is the fact that I've done lots of different things! From growing up surrounded by and taking care of animals in rural Canada to travelling to other countries. I've worked on a military base with lovely French-speaking Africans, I've worked in a Spanish language preschool, I've worked changing oil in automobiles! I put a lot of value on my adventures and I love that I can say that I have lived in different places and have really interesting, conscious friends and family from all over the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am great with colour and artistic projects in general! I get asked about makeup a lot, whether it is for a wound or a crazy Halloween costume or a regular beauty question. I do have some experience teaching. I have even taught figure skating if anyone fancies a lesson on the ice! I am a good problem solver and passionate about social justice and equality.
I love learning about different cultures! I know a lot about Caribbean culture and reggae music and I know about Mexican culture (I can cook Mexican meals - and no, not the Americanized version but real Mexican food!).
