ABOUT ME

Hi!

I'm from Athens, Georgia and have been traveling with my boyfriend, Brent Fink, for just over a year. We started in June of 2013 in Buenos Aires. So far we have been to Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador but we plan to continue traveling and volunteering through Colombia and Central America. Our planning style is somewhat spontaneous so we are always planning as we go.

Orinignally from Virginia (Brent) and North Carolina (Holly), we were both residents of Athens, Georgia for 6 years. We both graduated from the University of Georgia in 2012. Brent graduated with a degree in Biology and Holly with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Global Sourcing. Throughout college and post-college we have been working in the service industry as bartenders, line cooks, and managers. Holly also took a year off of school to work on a private yacht as a stewardess.

With several years working in the service industry, we are both very considerate and conscientious of the places we stay and the people we live and or work with. We are both super laid back and enjoy meeting new people and more than anything sharing a delicious meal!

While traveling, we have been avid volunteers through Workaway. We've worked on various projects including a restaurant on Volcano Osorno in Chile, a farm and bed and breakfast in San Rafael, Argentina, a permaculture project on Lago Rupanco in the Lakes District of Chile, and a farm near Otavalo in Ecuador. Outside of these workaways I volunteered with a fair trade accessory company in Otavalo, Ecuador for several months. We love getting the chance to spend time with locals/residents of an area and truly appreciate what each place has to offer outside of hostels restaurants, and attractions (but we enjoy some of those too!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couch surfing but have been an active member of workaway and airbnb. Both have been very positive experiences so I am excited to be joining the couch surfing community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Trying to pick directors and watch each one of their films but that can be difficult while traveling... Currently on a Wes Anderson kick but I hope to follow up with Spielberg. Other than that I recently have really enjoyed Gangs of New York and most HBO/Showtime series.

I like all types of music and really enjoy hearing new types and finding new bands.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Too many amazing things to name but a few would be... Any volunteer project, hiking Torres del Paine and Fitz Roy, summiting Cotopaxi, inti raymi in Cotocachi, Ecuador, the Galapagos
