Hi, I’m Holly 🦋🌺💜

I have been in Latin America with Asher since January 2024 and plan to continue travelling here until the end of the year. Whilst here we’ve taken part in a couple of Workaways, which have been my favourite part of the trip. We love to meet local people, make new friends and share experiences and culture.

I am a beginner in Spanish, and would love to learn more. If your English is beginner too, then we will manage between us!

At home, I work for a university in technology. I am a friendly, sociable and relaxed person who loves to meet new people.

Estoy en América Latina con Asher desde enero de 2024 y planeo seguir viajando aquí hasta fin de año. Mientras estuvimos aquí participamos en un par de Workaways, que han sido mi parte favorita del viaje. Nos encanta conocer gente local, hacer nuevos amigos y compartir experiencias y cultura.

En casa trabajo para una universidad en tecnología. Soy una persona amigable, sociable y relajada a la que le encanta conocer gente nueva.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing with Asher as a way to have a different travel experince. During our trip, we have visited many hostels, and they are fun, but detach you from local life. We have realised that couchsurf is the solution to this and will allow us to be closer to the community !

Music, Movies, and Books

I absolutely love to read. I try to read as widely as possible and am always open to a recommendation and love discussing books, authors etc! Last year, I read 50 books and this year I would like to beat this record!

I am incredibly interested in street art and wrote my thesis about it. I always love to seek out local art and creativity wherever I go, so any recommendations would be lovely!

Me encanta leer. Intento leer lo más ampliamente posible y siempre estoy abierto a recomendaciones. ¡Me encanta hablar de libros, autores, etc.! ¡El año pasado leí 50 libros y este año me gustaría batir este récord!

Estoy muy interesado en el arte callejero y escribí mi tesis sobre ello. Siempre me encanta buscar arte y creatividad local dondequiera que vaya, ¡así que cualquier recomendación sería encantadora!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I volunteered at an animal shelter in Santorini. Greece. The shelter was home to over 80 dogs, 40 horses and dinkies who were retired work animals and many more farm animals living in happy coexistence.

- I was part of a research trip to Uganda for my Master’s Degree in 2023. I was in a refugee settlement for three weeks meeting host and refugee communities.

- Asher and I snorkelled with sharks, stingrays and coral in Caye Caulker, Belize.

- We did an amazing Workaway with our friend Miguel in March 2024. We spent three weeks in a small town in Honduras. He kindly welcomed us into our home, where we shared meals, exchanged culture, and worked on art projects and painting together. It was a joy.

- Fui voluntaria en un refugio de animales en Santorini. Grecia. El refugio albergaba a más de 80 perros, 40 caballos y dinkies que eran animales de trabajo retirados y muchos más animales de granja que vivían en feliz convivencia.

- Fui parte de un viaje de investigación a Uganda para realizar mi maestría en 2023. Estuve en un asentamiento de refugiados durante tres semanas conociendo a comunidades de acogida y de refugiados.

- Asher y yo practicamos snorkel con tiburones, rayas y corales en Caye Caulker, Belice.

- Hicimos un Workaway increíble con nuestro amigo Miguel en marzo de 2024. Pasamos tres semanas en un pequeño pueblo de Honduras. Amablemente nos recibió en nuestra casa, donde compartimos comidas, intercambiamos cultura y trabajamos juntos en proyectos de arte y pintura. Fue una alegría.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning about different cultures, languages, foods, tradition and history. It is incredibly valuable to share in the joy of this, exchanging this through meals, photos and conversation.

I would love to share my culture with you, as well as join in in any art or around the home projects (I grew up with parents who love DIY projects) and also get to know your home town/city.

Me encanta aprender sobre diferentes culturas, idiomas, comidas, tradiciones e historia. Es increíblemente valioso compartir la alegría de esto, intercambiándolo a través de comidas, fotografías y conversaciones.

Me encantaría compartir mi cultura contigo, así como participar en cualquier proyecto artístico o relacionado con el hogar (crecí con padres que aman los proyectos de bricolaje) y también conocer tu ciudad natal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a vegetarian and love to eat colourful, delicious meals. I love having long conversations about life experiences and perspectives. To us, these meaningful conversations and insights into different cultures and people is what travelling to new places is all about.
