Updating my profile to reflect the change of direction in life. I will leave my old one below in case you are interested.

I'm leaving my PhD in Astrophysics in 3 months and hope to become a conservationist however there is also a good chance I will just attempt to travel for free and volunteer where I can along the way.

I'm just starting my journey by learning how to find free food, hitching and of course applying for all the volunteering things related to conservation that I can.

I am incredibly interested in hearing about your experiences in travelling, hitching, alternative ways of living and just generally getting to know you! =]

OLD profile:

I'm a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for solar system research (in Göttingen). I've been here since July 2016 and have loved every day.

My hobbies include climbing anything and everything, parkour, snowboarding, (not too extreme) hiking, painting, drinking tea, playing bass (in a very nerdy band called 'Mega Gauss'), reading and chilling with friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to see more of the country I live in! Also the rest of the world, but while money is tight I'll start with Germany.

I also really want to improve my Germany (and Russian if possible), I speak very very little German and I work at such an international place that most students also do not speak German. I can just about order food, and name animals but really that is it at the moment.

Also new friends! I like chatting to people finding out cool things they have done, sharing new experiences.

I survived to my current age which is pretty cool.
Decided to quit my PhD and start a new life.
