About Me

Hello!

I'm Holly, a 22 year old Torontonian. I have spent the majority of my life in an Artist's co-op along Toronto's waterfront. I studied in Montreal and also lived in a small town in the Brittany Region of France for 4 months, working as an AuPair! I have been working as a Nanny for the past 2 years for three awesome little kids.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My few encounters with the couchsurfing community have been great and I'm excited to become more involved. I can't wait to meet new people and explore some cool places on a big Europ trip starting in August! I believe living like the locals is the best way to learn about new cultures, customs, languages. I like to be fully immersed in my new surrounding and get the most out of my travels!

My boyfriend Cody and I are planning on WWOOFing and surfing our way through France, Italy and England with hopefully a couple of other stops along the way (maybe Denmark, Croatia or Spain!?). We are quitting our jobs, selling the majority of our stuff and exploring and learning until we run out of money! When we return to Canada and get settled back into our "regular" lives we'd be more than happy to host couchsurfers and offer advice to explorers visiting our home city!

Interests

I LOVE the outdoors and am very passionate about living as healthy and sustainably as possible. I enjoy being active; biking, yoga, hiking, swimming, dancing and playing recreational sports.

I am outside as often as possible, whether that's hanging out in our backyard, the park, or spending the weekend at my cottage. I also love camping, canoeing, road trips, snowshoeing or any kind of adventure!

I LOVE food. I eat a mainly vegetarian diet and try to eat local, organic and hardly any processed food. My boyfriend and I have become almost obsessed with making everything ourselves and have gotten really into fermentation, currently working on mastering kombucha and sauerkraut. We have also experimented with other ferments as well, including sourdough, kimchi and brine pickles.

The arts are a huge part of my life and I enjoy painting, drawing and especially sculpting and taking pictures.

I also love animals, dogs and octopuses are my favourites.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of oldies, classic pop, jazz, latin dance music, 90s hip hop and r&b or anything I can dance to.

I watch a lot of Documentaries. My favourites are about nature, animals, food, cool stuff happening around the world and Vice Docs. I love learning so I'm into anything that teaches me something new! I can sit/stay awake through the occasional comedy!

I find non fiction books much more captivating and have only read a handful of fiction novels. A couple of my favourites are "Life of Pi" and "The Alchemist". Michael Pollan is my favourite non-ficiton author and "Cooked" is my favourite book of his!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last Summer, Cody and I took a month long road trip, camping across Canada and the United States. We endured wildfires just a few kilometres away, several car breakdowns, 2 epic tent destroying wind storms in the desert, no radio or AC in our car, a near collision with a deer and we still had the most amazing trip and still love each other!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to exchange recipes, learn each others languages and explore each others hometowns!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Once we return home and settle in, I'd be happy to return the favour and offer you a little taste of my home!
