About Me

Hello, I'm Holly! :) I love meeting new people and am currently living in Melbourne after travelling around the world for just under a year with my boyfriend (his profile is George Butter). Every day has bought something different and it is proving to be the most amazing thing ever! I love exploring and am getting used to just going with the flow and not asking for directions! :) I am looking forward to meeting new people whether it be fellow travellers or the locals and trying all the different foods (I'm a BIG foodie!)

I went to uni for 1 year, didn't like it, so much to everyone's surprise, I transferred uni and completed my degree somewhere else where I was much happier! Since that point, I will tell every single person who asks me for advice.. Do what makes YOU happy because everything else will fall into place.. I managed to secure myself a placement year at IBM and went back to the hardest year ever and got a first class degree - I was quite chuffed to be honest! I think that's it for me with education, university wise, however if it was food /nutrition/sports related, I would find it a lot more interesting so who knows.. I don't like to plan anything too far in advance, I just have general ideas on what I'd like to do :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travelled the world with my boyfriend for just under a year and we love to get to see the real places and people of where we are going. Some of our best memories of travelling are with the people we stayed with and I can't recommend Couchsurfing enough :D We want to get involved even more and meet all of you! We stayed with a fellow Couchsurfer in every country we went to. When we got to Australia, we opened our door to travellers coming through Melbourne too - it was great to give back!

Interests

Food, food, food (and healthy food at that). After being told I was a coeliac, I made it a good thing and love it! Travel, walking, hiking (which is one big reason why NZ was amazing!), blog reading, exploring, being with friends and my amazing family, animals, documentaries, family, dogs (I'm the weirdo smiling at and saying hello to all the dogs), being in the sunshine, making the most of every day, keeping active, budget travel and doing the right thing for the planet. Whenever I am working, I aim to bring sustainable initiatives into the workplace!

Do whatever makes you happy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like lots of different genres. Songs that make me happy and I can sing along to, I like motown music, soul, funk, reggae, chilled out music, lots of different stuff!

I know a film is good if I don't fall asleep to it! Love ones like Schindler's List and Green Mile, but when I first watched Law Abiding Citizen - such a good film partly because I had no idea what it was about prior to watching it!

I also love Louis Theroux documentaries.

I enjoy reading, but I also enjoy being active and can't sit still for longer than 5 minutes, so I like books I can pick up and drop quickly. I enjoy reading about food and health so books like this are great for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a hard thing..So far, travel has made me feel so grateful and appreciative. Without a doubt, it is the most amazing thing I have done. From roaming around in crazy Medan city, flying over the Great Barrier Reef in a helicopter, watching humpback whales jump out of the water during their migration, meeting so many friends throughout Australia and swimming in waterfalls, seeing wild orangutans in the Sumatran rainforest and hearing a tiger!! And looking after rescued elephants in Thailand, surprisingly loving Bangkok, trekking with the most lovely guide in Myanmar, climbing up waterfalls in Laos. I'm also proud of my degree - final year - never again but very proud of myself looking back.

Oh!! I did a skydive over Lake Wanaka and Aoraki National Park which was amazing! Now that is without a doubt the best thing I've ever done. Everyone should do one! You lose all your nerves and are just buzzing the whole way up.. And down! I also did 2 bungy jumps but they were nothing compared to the skydive! Still proud I leaped off though!

And all of this travelling on a budget - success!

Living in Melbourne for what was meant to be 6 months, and now it's 4 years later, it is incredible. I will be forever grateful for the opportunities here. I have learnt so much, met some best friends and explored Australia more than I ever thought I would be able to!

Teach, Learn, Share

Not really sure about this one! I can teach English, I can talk about foodie stuff, I love cooking - have I mentioned that ?! :)

I love to learn lots from other people, also just their way of living and sharing our experiences and favourite things. At the moment, I'd love to learn Spanish. Currently, I'm finding the masculine and feminine parts hard! Haha. Language learning isn't my forte.

I could share a workout with you, pictures of life back home and general chat!

What I Can Share with Hosts
