To cycle from the UK to Australia!

ABOUT ME

Hi! My husband and I are embarking on an epic bicycle ride which started at Holly's home in Cornwall, Uk and will see us travel on two wheels through over 40 countries to reach David's home in the Hunter Valley, Australia. We anticipate taking approximately 2 years.

We hope that we will meet many people and get to experience local cultures across the world. It would be great to meet people through Couch Surfing on route and if you are able to host us in any way, that would be fantastic!

David and I are friendly and easy going characters with no quirky requirements. We will be self-sufficient on this trip, so a space to camp on and a shower here and there would be just fine. Also, we are always willing to give a hand when needed. Look forward to meeting with you in the near future!

At this time we are unable to host people. However, when we eventually settle in Australia with our own pad, we will have open doors and a good Aussie BBQ waiting for you!

Also, any keen cyclists out there, please feel free to contact us if you fancy joining us for some miles on the road!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have been incredibly lucky to have met some extraordinary and wonderful people whilst travelling who have welcomed us into their homes or helped us in some special way. Our favourite memories are most certainly those where we have stayed with people and hosted people that we had only just met! This is the first time we have used Couchsurfing to meet people, so looking forward to it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ooh, hard choice!! It would have to be a trip to Dominica, Caribbean in 2009 with David. We flew in on a plane so small David could touch both sides of the plane at the same time and could see the runway as we landed. We then hiked from the capital to the highest point in the mountainous national park. We hiked to the Boiling Lake (boiling because of the altitude) via the Valley of Desolation and continued through the rain forest to the native Carib Indian territory on the island. It was AMAZING!!

Teach, Learn, Share

David can teach you how to make a camp stove out of a tin can, a new skill recently acquired!!

Anything you want to know about cycle touring, camping or choosing your own adventure, this is what we love to talk about most! If we can inspire anyone to get out and have a mini adventure of their own, that would be brilliant. It is so easy and does not have to cost anything, you just need to get creative and think outside of the box.

For us, we want to learn EVERYTHING!! We love learning stuff, anything, everything! Everyday that we are travelling and meeting people it is impossible not to learn something amazing everyday! Bring it on!!
