About Me

Born and raised in New Hampshire (a tiny New England state known for mountains, fall foliage, and a bold state motto: "Live Free or Die"). Most of my family is from the Midwest, though, so I try to keep that friendly wholesome vibe.

I went to school in Boston twice, studying geography and urban planning. I like cities, maps, and travel. I also like mountains, trees, arguing about facts instead of googling the answer, popcorn, and learning new things about anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've studied, lived, and worked abroad, and I always love how much more open and willing to connect people are when shaken out of their day-to-day routines. While my work doesn't let me travel as much as I'd like, I find that inviting travelers into my home can replicate some of that feeling. I've been an Airbnb host for two years, but I like the spirit of Couchsurfing a lot and want to give it a try.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit my first real job after 5 months and moved to Belize to intern at an ecotourism lodge.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to ice skate on the rink near my house (winter only). I can also teach you nerdy urban planner things about cities in general, and Boston in particular.

I'd love to learn to be a better cook and a better singer. I'd love to make more progress with learning Spanish.

I can share all kinds of tips about hiking in the White Mountains and other beautiful areas around Boston. If the schedule works out, maybe I can take you hiking or sailing. I can also tell you where to bike, where to swim, and where find the closest good beer or coffee by foot, bike, public transport, or car.

Please borrow my yoga mats, books, kitchen, etc.

Maybe we can share a Scrabble game?

What I Can Share with Hosts

My forte is digging right into the heart of the matter and trying to troubleshoot problems. Are you having an existential crisis? Feeling blocked about a certain aspect of your life (or even something as simple as the furniture arrangement in your living room)? Do you feedback on your art, website, writing project, etc? Let's talk about it!

Also... I am happy to make you American treats: chocolate chip cookies, brownies, pancakes-- whatever you've been craving. Or just make the coffee in the morning.

Also... I'm one of those connector types. So if you tell me about a person, place, or thing you're interested in, I'll probably think of three people you need to talk to or places you need to go.
