About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To create gorgeous immersive enviromenments where anything and everything could and probably will happen.
ABOUT ME
I am completely engulfed by my passion for music, new media, and seeing people pushing boundary's and exploring the depths of positive human potentials, particularly within the arts.
I spend a good amount of my time making music, interactive experiences, writing, and working on my projects. I work under the name "Holographic Cocoon" creating gorgeously ethereal loop music with my voice completely live with a range of effects filters and a loop machine. I love exploring the possibilities of the organic homogenized with technology, and creating worlds of sensory synthesis, emotion, narrative, movement, communication, and complete surrender. You can listen to my loop music here: http://hcocoon.bandcamp.com/
I've also recently realized that I am a writer, and have begun a series of wonderland like adventures through dreams and the subconscious. The books have become the ocean in which many of the mediums I play with have met and emulsified, and I am having a great time writing them and sharing them with others.
Outside of music and arts, I love going on gorgeous adventures, long walks, riding my bike (particularly at night when the sky is clear and the stars are really visible), going to the cliffs in my home town after a storm and watching the waves rage against the shore, swimming, kayaking, having great conversations, experiencing other peoples passions, learning, thinking up impossible things and setting out to make them happen, cooking, watching movies, experiencing amazing live music, jamming (I love drumming, singing, playing bass, and giving new instruments a go), writing, and seeking out new things to be interested in.
PHILOSOPHY
I am a vegetarian, and still eat some animal products, but do what I can to do so ethically (avoiding factory farmed products, and sourcing from locals who treat their animals with respect).
I don't really identify with one particular philosophy or religion, though I love exploring how others live and making my own little collection of beliefs, customs and ways of life - like a little cultural bower bird.
I don't believe in Gods, but I do not deny that they could exist. Instead, I see all perspectives of divinity as personified metaphors for things we either do not understand, or wish to simplify and relate to on a human level.
I believe that our world views are essential to our mental well being, and so, if our views conflict, but neither of us are harming one another or others, I am quite happy to co-exist and not challenge your views. I will have a good discussion though if I think it is important for a person to consider other ways of thinking, and I welcome people to tell me how and why they disagree with me - I don't ever want to be stagnant in my beliefs if they can be improved upon or broadened.
I am a pacifist, and greatly value honesty, communication, trust, beauty, fairness, equality, humanity, generosity, hospitality, respect (both of the self and others), and creativity.
I suppose a quote from my first book could sum my personal philosophy up pretty well. When asked what they think the meaning of life is, my protagonist responds:
"‘I don’t know about the meaning of life . . . I do like the idea that each sentient individual give their own life meaning, and sometimes they define others too, but I don’t think there is one universal meaning, even though we so crave it . . . Maybe it’s better to try your best not to be a jerk, pursue what you adore, do what you can for others while still respecting your needs, and have the best time you can while making sure others around you are also."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my favorite moments was my first couch surfing experience. A dear friend and I found ourselves in a Warehouse just out of the heart of Melbourne (Aust) hosted by a beautiful Puppeteer, a film maker, an inventor, and an amazing polish man with laughing eyes who I swear is capable of anything. This space is like walking into the imagination of a creative genius, a labrynth of limitless potential.
What stood out to me most was the five large ropes suspended from the roof, which we found out were part of a musical instrument that is the basis of a production of complete surrender, meticulous physical and musical composition, and endurance - "The Bells" by "Five Angry Men". These ropes were attached to midi triggers that when swung upon they would tigger the sound of huge clanging church bells, and the ropes (having an element of elasticity to them) could have you bouncing yourself up to 8 metres in the air if you had the physical strength to create the momentum! After showing us this, our hosts projected a video of the performance in their own private ampitheatre, and this 30 minute performance filled me with the greatest joy and awe!
These same hosts ended up setting up a gig on their giant school bus which they had transformed into a traveling theater space. We parked out the front of Luna Park, invited passers by on board, and Maite and I performed our show (where Maite covers herself in paint and creates an ever evolving interpretation of my music upon a performance space of canvases with her body). It was such a beautiful night!!
I am so grateful to these beautiful people, and to couch surfing for connecting us!
