About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Writing my first book.

ABOUT ME

Well read guy trying to get his first novel together. I've written most of two screenplays, but have finally found a project I'm really passionate about.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm here to make a story that shows some of the goings on in the world, from the myths of old, the partially told histories and some of the goings on today behind the scenes. Also the greater truths from experience--I'm not a religious zealot type--I think everyone finds their own path.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Was just told about this project recently. I'm in the process of moving when I return home, but when I'm settled down, I will definitely be set up for hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Outside of the college experiences of visiting friends, I haven't had any couchsurfing experiences with strangers yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like.

Interests

Pretty much anything. I seem to have a mostly unlimited attention span for most things. Movies, books, food, wine, cheese, travel, meeting new people and listening to their experiences, etc. I'm presently in France learning about cheese aging if that helps paint the picture.

Movies: Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, The Dark Knight, Vicki Christina Barcelona, Juno, Requiem for a Dream (although like Lars Von Trier's, it's painful to watch), True Romance, American Beauty, The Matrix, The Door in the Floor, The Big Lebowski, Star Wars, Amelie, After the Wedding, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Fight Club, In the Mood for Love, Wedding Crashers, Borat, etc.

Books: The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Republic, Shakespeare, Dante, Milton, Swift, Nietzsche, Heideggar, Tolstoy, etc.
More recently: Jeanette Winterson--The Passion and Written on the Body

Kurt Vonnegut--All of his stuff is funny and thoughtful
Milan Kundera--The Book of Laughter and Forgetting is my favorite of his.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had a pretty cool letter writing romance with the first woman I fell in love with. A friend met her when he went to college, and she and I wrote for two years before we ever met. It was nice, but didn't end well after all. Still, it was pretty extraordinary in this day in age.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've read a lot of philosophy (Plato, Nietzsche, Heideggar are among my favorites), also Drama (love Shakespeare, all the ancient greek playwrights, Tennessee Williams and others), Economics, History, but also well versed in Science, Mathematics, and even a little bit of music. I can read French a bit, I can speak it slowly and not all that well yet.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
