About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I have an 80 acre homestead in the middle of nowhere that I occasionally like to take a break from. I take a week or a month, travel around and then retreat to my country lifestyle.
ABOUT ME
Moving here to Oregon was an accident. I had always hoped to have a small spot of soil to call mine, where I could grow my own food, animals and build my own house. I inherited 80 acres surrounded on 3 sides by national forest. Here I can grow my own food, build my greenhouse, explore, swim in the creek, do photography and spend days reading in the sun gathering more freckles. I am in the process of remodeling a vintage school bus into a great apartment/art studio. I am a very peaceful person who has never owned a television but does enjoy occasionally watching shows online. I love to read real books, mushroom hunt and work on my 1978 CJ5 Jeep. I am not a vegetarian but do grow happy healthy meat for myself and customers in the form of chickens, heirloom turkeys, and duck eggs. I like a good whiskey, have an old dog that is scared of his own farts and the cat, a dirty sense of humor and am very adaptable.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is; "Live what you love". In other words, do not waste years or decades of your life working at a job you hate just to 'get ahead' or make good money. In the end, the richest parts of life aren't ever found in the office. I am a very logical person but am passionate about many subjects. I am considered very well grounded when it comes to knowing who I am. I prefer to be completely honest. If I do not want to be honest, I will tell you that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I traveled from Maine all the way down to Florida couchsurfing, hitting most of the major cities along the way. It was one of the best things I could have ever done for myself at that stage in my life as I needed to know that the world was bigger than the towns and 'attitudes' I had grown up in.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a big blues, soul, jazz, alternative music fan. Movies; everything from Alfred Hitchcock to Hannibal Lector to Les Miserables. In books I am just as eclectic. A lot of science and history. Not much fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I drove out of Alaska I was hell bent on getting out of there as fast as possible. The 2k+ mile drive was accomplished in just over 3 days. I remember the second morning, very early before the sun crested the mountains, sitting in the middle of the two lane highway and watching the sun make its morning debut. I was the only human around for a few hundred miles and the sky put on a glorious show just for me.
Teach, Learn, Share
A lot of the skills I have are considered quaint. However I do know much about finish carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical repair. I also have been gardening very successfully beyond organic for more than 20 years. I know how to make homemade butter in a mason jar, dye wool using mushrooms, change out a light fixture and a variety of other things.
