About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm a 28 year old California girl. I work as an archaeologist, more specifically, I work as a geoarchaeologist doing cultural resource management mostly in California (yes, we have archaeology too) but very few people know what that means so you can just think of me as Indiana Jones. I really do have a passion for dirt and archaeology.
I'm at kind of a transitional point in my life. I recently finished my Masters degree and now have a full-time "grown up" job. Weird.
I haven't traveled a ton but have enjoyed all of the travel I have done and am excited to do more.
PHILOSOPHY
You'll never succeed if you don't try and not trying is worse than failing.
Live life with an open mind and heart and LOVE always LOVE.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't participated yet! But, I've heard good things. I'm interested in couch surfing on an upcoming 3 month long trip through Central America and would be happy to host in the future when I'm able to.

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently...
Reading: Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins and it's pretty dang good. I also started reading The Motorcycle Diaries, you know, for inspiration. And, multiple travel books about Mexico and Central America
Listening to: a lot of classical cause I mostly listen to music at work and don't really like to listen to lyrics while thinking cause it's too distracting, also, my classical tends to heavily include flute playing since I sort of play the flute. When working out I listen to current pop (sssshhh it's a guilty pleasure) cause it's upbeat and keeps me moving. Otherwise I tend to like Indie rock and Classic rock.
Most recently seen movies: Django in the theater which was pretty good if action is your thing which it sort of is mine. Les Miserable at home meh I haven't seen the musical live but imagine it's much better, too long as a movie for my taste (what happened to movie intermission like back in the day?). Wanderlust TERRIBLE I repeat TERRIBLE do not watch it and it's not even really bout wanderlust. The newest James Bond, or about the first half hour before I fell asleep, but I think it's good so I'm going to try to watch the rest soon.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At work: 11,000 plus year old projectile points and thousands of years old braided rope among other things. Also, archaeological sites buried by over 3 meters of more recent deposits that no one else has seen in thousands of years.
Traveling: Tikal, Guatemala. Just love me that archaeology.
Sportsy: ran the New York marathon in 2005 and 2006 and at least six half marathons since 2005 plus most recently the Spartan Beast Race - 13 miles with over 25 obstacles.
Teach, Learn, Share
Want to be able to estimate how old a soil is? I can teach you that. And maybe some other stuff about soil and geomorphology (landscape evolution/change over time), and a bit about rocks and geology. Also maybe a bit about flute playing, knitting, or running. And cooking, I do love to cook.
Happy to learn almost anything new! (until I decide I don't like it) Love to learn about new cultures and traditions and would love to learn about yours!
