ABOUT ME

42-year old New Zealander who's been living in Berlin for the past four years (12 years in Europe now), I intend to be here for many more years - working as a freelance translator/subtitler, I spend the rest of my time exploring this astonishing city, making friends, going to the gym, writing, cycling, swimming, sailing, and travelling when my budget and the opportunity allows...

PHILOSOPHY

I know it's a cliche, but the golden rule is pretty damned unbeatable - do unto others as you would have them do unto you - or if I can make a slight amendment to that, do whatever you want as long as it doesn't impose upon others unduly (or upon our marvellous yet fragile world)

Have hosted some nice people and recently surfed in Israel with some really cool people - the people I've met through CouchSurfing were the highlight of my recent trip there, and made me really appreciate what this site and experience enables - like having friends in every city in the world.

I'm an obsessive language junkie - speaking them, learning them, discussing them, dissecting them, teaching them - I guess I've picked up a fair amount of other useful skills during my small time on this planet, from how to roll a perfect joint to how to tie a bowline knot - there's no point in learning something if you can't pass it on to someone else...
