About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To engage the gifts of my ancestors into the breath of now - with a little bit of funky groove, a dash of attitude and a touch of class.

ABOUT ME

I love to be outside - that's where I'm most alive and happy and inspired. I love to be in the practice of recognizing the quiet moments of life, the hidden corners and the secrets in the shadow. I love rituals and practices that actively show reverence for "the mystery" and I love to play....to bounce and dance and jump and roll and squeeze and laugh and let it all go. I'm not afraid to be silly and I won't turn away from something scary. In fact I love to recognize a fear, face it and push beyond it. I believe in the earth and the Universe and in people; I believe in love and laughter and art; I believe in honesty, sincerity and hugs and I definitely believe in foot-rubs.

(from blogthings)
Your Personality is Very Rare (INTP)
Your personality type is goofy, imaginative, relaxed, and brilliant. You are Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving.
Only about 4% of all people have your personality, including 2% of all women and 6% of all men.

PHILOSOPHY

"If you take care of each instant, you will take care of all time. There is only one time when it is essential to awaken. That time is now." The sustainable core of my living is governed by a trust in love and the power of possibility for good. I believe deeply in reverential respect and listening to your gut - even if it's hard and means that you'll have to trod a new path where you can't see far ahead. I believe we have the power and potential to create the things we want - one of the best things I've ever heard is: "You are not here to change the world. You are here to create the world as you want it to be and to allow the world as others create it to exist as well."(Abraham)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've always loved the saying, "the way you do anything is they way you do everything" - even though it can be humiliating to look at that honestly sometimes! Even still I think the best way to participate in anything is to give 100% of yourself and to treat others as you would want to be treated.
Generosity procures joy,
honesty procures peace.
The more fully we give our energy,
the more it returns to us.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Directly through CS I have been enjoying welcoming people to BCN as well as being welcomed into the homes and hearts of others in their cities.
Additionally I have spent many years traveling through the U.S.A. and riding that divine wave of grace - which often beaches me onto the shores of beautiful people who, through seemingly random events, have welcomed me into their huts, their tree houses, tents, orchards, mansions, tipi's and kiva circles. It's amazing what can happen when you just let go and let god.....
Anytime that I have had a home - travelers have been welcomed into it...especially those west-coast bohemian creative sprites!

Interests

Hiking, visualizing, laughing, hugging, playing with my dogs, riding horses, dancing, staring at the moon, sleeping under the stars, organic farming, walking barefoot, being honest.....
"The heart is like a garden, it can grow compassion, fear, resentment or love. What seeds will you plant there?"
Negativity, fear and guilt must be overcome and exchanged for love and light.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Ayn Rand (The Fountain Head, Atlas Shrugged), Diana Gabaldon, Tolkien, A.A. Atanasio, Orson Scott Card, Eckhart Tolle, John O'Donohue, Daniel Odier. If you know these names then you'll know a little more about me - for this is a particular bunch!!

In the past three months I´ve read:
"What is the What" by David Eggers - a "novel" about Achack Deng, one of the "Lost Boys" from Sudan. It's brilliantly written and incredibly touching.
Also "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" by Muriel Barberry which is hilariously brilliant.
And Sir Richard Branson's autobiography and Lady Diana's too.
Nicholas Sparks' recent novel "The Lucky One" was a casual and endearing read, he's always true to form.
"Shantaram" by Gregory Roberts is FANTASTIC!!!
"The Dice Man" is a trip...strange...interesting...different sort of read, but I think it was worth it.
"The Reader" Finally, I read a book before seeing the movie!
I'm just now getting into Barack Obama's "The Audacity of Hope".

I LOVE musicals, documentaries, National Geographic/Atlas/Discovery stuff....I love Luc Besson's (flim director) and Julie Taymor's work.
In general I love music/books/films that make you think - that shift your perspective and make you think outside of your comfort zone. I really like things that inevitably 'change you', that humble you into gratitude and fill you with awe and inspiration to activate something new in your life. (eternal sunshine, run lola run, amelie, LOTR, V for Vendetta etc)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I flew in a four-passenger plane through the peaks of Mt. McKinley - which was epic. After landing in a grass field I hiked an hour to an ice-fed lake and canoed with my mom - right into a lightning storm. Alaska is so raw and beautiful - I'd never felt so small and yet so connected to my surroundings.

I've hitch-hiked all across the U.S.A. and parts of South America - met up with the most incredible people. The best was when it was pouring rain and I was FINALLY picked up by a couple who brought me to their fig farm. I ended up staying there for 2 months - trading my work for food and a bed under the stars. It was really magical.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Next time you find that you're doubting yourself or your potential and possibility - play the "what if" game with yourself. Ask yourself "what if.........." and fill in the blank with wild ideals. Imagine it, FEEL it, explore it.....'cause you never know, what if it comes to be! Aim for the stars!

Learn: I really want to know more about the 13 moon calendar - and living in the awareness of 'natural time'. The Mayan's are deeply intelligent and in-tune with the planet. Anyone seen The Great Year?

Share: "The miracle is this - the more we share, the more we have."
-- Leonard Nimoy
